If you were familiar with the RPG, Samuel Haight needs no introduction,
although if you are not here is a rough idea,
Samuel Haight was a Werewolf with Mage abilities, he was insanely
powerful, killed vampires, werewolves & Mages at will. He was super
super nasty, he made Wendell Delburton look like a new kid at McDonalds
drive through...
He also died, most likeluy by Huitzilopotchli, so he could be super
tought & broken(not literally), or hopefully people will barely
remember the card, as many of the roleplayers try to forget Sam.
His fate was as such, he died, went to the underworld, where the
deathlords forged his soul into an ashtray...
Smoking sure is a nasty habit.
He is also, if I'm not mistaken, the first major named character to
appear both in the original Rage and in V:TES. He was a nasty, nasty
enemy in Rage. I don't remember if he was worth 10 renown, but I know
it was up around there. (This meant that killing him was worth about
half of a typical game.) Also, I liked his art for Rage. I wonder if
they got that back.

Yeah, he was rather nasty in Rage, and was one of my favorite cards in
fact. Samuel was worth nine renown, and could easily thrash just about
anything silly enough to jump him. I had a Fianna deck that consisted
mostly of using Geas to send other people's wolves after him, never to
return.
The art, by Richard Thomas, also rocked. I hope the VTES version will
be just as awesome.

I never played the Rage card game. Was it any good? How did it compare
to V:TES?

While I can't say that Rage comes anywhere near V:TES in terms of depth,
it's not a bad game at all, and I would say that it easily occupies the
upper crust of CCG's. It plays like a stripped-down version of V:TES
that has some similar mechanics, but is instead combat oriented and
extremely quick to play. Since it is based on the more violent side of
Werewolf, it doesn't take itself very seriously at all, which is
probably one of the stronger qualities of the game. Despite some
rather severe balance issues (which may have been sorted out, since I
haven't followed the growth of the game for some time), it's still a
fairly fun little CCG that is great if you need to chill out after a few
stressful games of V:TES.
Rage also had excellent artwork, functional and attractive card design,
and insanely high card quality that I don't think has been matched by
another CCG since. Honestly, I hardly got a chance to play the game,
but I still own complete sets of all the original expansions simply
because the artwork was really top notch, and some of the cards from the
later expansions are pretty damn funny.
You might say that Samuel Haight symbolises everything in the design
concepts of the V:tM after the 2nd Edition. That was the time of
Embraced Dhabi-Mage and True Brujah-Silverfang Abomination player
characters and NPCs, WoW:Combat manuals and general cheesyness of
forgetting what the game was about.
He might have a drop of changeling blood in him, who knows.. Just like
Rasputin.

The card quality of Rifts CCG would've blown you away. You could've
stirred your soda with them, licked them clean, and never known the
difference. Unfortunately, the game was a casualty of 9/11.
???
How is THAT ????

After having their Flagship Game yanked out from under them when Warner
Bros. refused to renegotiate Babylon 5 Licensing, Precedence had no choice
but to bet the farm on Rifts CCG, which came out in September 2001.
Well, since Aabt Kindred existed, it means that animals could be embraced
(although the rules said it was impossible, but there you go) Newly embraced
animals tended to go in a Frenzy, you could have vampires embracing monkeys
and throwing them towards their opponents. I heard a guy talk about this on
a V:TES tourney, iirc, I never read anything about it in any of the books.
Smoking sure is a nasty habit.

And so in the panic that followed nobody wanted to risk their money ?

There was quite an economic slump in the last quarter of 2001. You don't
remember?
Sounds like a LARP plot gone bad to me.

>Does anyone has the art of the Samuel Haight from Rage?
You can see it on Rage Online available at CCGWorkshop.

There's also a Rage site with complete pictures for all sets, but I
don't have the proper link at home. Search Google for "rage online"
and you'll find it.

Perhaps he missed the news item on page 23: "Post-9/11 economic slump in
the United States - will it affect us?"

No. But it affected Europe much less. Some jobs particularly, computers and
stuff dependent on the US. And eventually, we all* survived (I think).
*not talking about the poor direct victims of the thing of course

Ok, I'll bite. What are the Aabt Kindred in the table top game/canon?
I know what the FiDai are after reading the Assamite Clanbook, but I
have no idea where/what the Aabt Kindred are.

IIRC they didn't play much more of role than guardians for her
haven/lair/temple, but yes, they were snakes that she embraced.
Her goal was to destabilise the Camarilla and Sabbat by revealing Caine (in
truth, a heavily memory latered Ankla Hotep).
