Blood Siege: Castro Valley
30 March 2002
Constructed
3 Prelim rounds plus 1 Final round

Blood Siege: Castro Valley was successfully held on 30 March 2002.
12 Methuselahs descended on Epic Worlds that day to exert their
influence in the Eternal Struggle.

After 3 rounds of blood-letting, the finalists were (accdg to
seeding):
Caleb Toombs playing Weenie Dominate Seducing Bleed
Jason Schley playing Tzimisce Intercept
Alex Con Hon playing Euro Brujah
Federico Neri (from Bologna Italy!) playing Tzimisce Bleed/Toolbox
Tied - Ian Lee playing Ravnos Toolbox/Intercept
Tied - Joel Marbella playing Hos Shambling Hordes w/ Martyr's
Resilience

Ian and Joel rolled the dice to determine who continues to the finals,
but cut a deal to split whatever prize they win. Ian rolled higher
and thus occuppied the last seat in the final round.

In the finals, Ian was bleeding Caleb, who was bleeding Jason, who was
bleeding Alex, who was bleeding Federico, who was bleeding Ian.

General overview of the Final Round: 10 Sudden Reversals played in the
finals, including one on a Week of Nightmares. Caleb quickly took out
Jason with heavy Bonding bleeds and an Anarch Revolt, but hit a wall
called 2nd Traditions and an Archon putting weenie DOM vampires into
torpor. Alex was saved from being ousted by his prey, Federico, who
played a Direct Intervention on a Bonding played by one of Caleb's
many minions. The table seemed to stablize after that when Alex
played a Minion Tapped one his minions to regain some pool. Caleb was
ousted by his own Anarch Revolt, which went away after his ouster.
Ian Sensory Overloaded and Sensory Deprived the Euro Brujah to earn
his 2nd VP, and proceeded to bleed Federico out to earn his 3rd and
4th VP of the finals.

After the dust settled, Ian Lee emerged from the Blood Siege with 4VPs
in the Final round to win the tournament. Second place went to Caleb
Toombs who earned 1VP in the final round.

Ian Lee won with his Ravnos Toolbox/Intercept deck, so it appears that
the Ravnos are migrating westward from Baltimore :)

The next tournament at Epic Worlds is on May 11, Boxed In: Castro
Valley, come one come all!!!

Special thanks to Federico Neri and Alessandro Giogoli who took time
out of their post-college CA vacation to have some VTES fun with us!
Hopefully we can participate in a VTES tournament or casual play in
Bologna Italy in the not too distant future ;)

Winning Deck Name: Of Ghastly Dreams (best safety lies in fear)
Created By: Ian Lee
Description: Clearly toolbox, the core is "intercept". This deck had
been doing well in our casual games, so with some tuning, I thought it
might be an interesting candidate for playing in a tournament. After
tuning, I goldfished a bit and realized just how many of the actions
are at zero stealth. The lack of stealth remains a problem. Should
pull Fleecing, an Overload, and probably the Patshivs.
Pseudo-Blindness was a metagame guess that didn't work particularly
well (in that I discarded all of them). The MVP was Mass Reality;
should be more than one.
