A transcript of the final follows, it should be more or less readable. It's
not a step-by-step transcript, though the pool total of a given player is
indicated at the end of a player's turn between parentheses, or at some key
moments. " Bleeds 1 " means a vamp bleeds for 1 and is unblocked if nothing
else is specified. The transcript assumes Powerbase Montreal had always been
used (either for influencing a vamp out or for retro-transfert), it doesn't
usually go into the details of which Vessel'ed or Blood Doll'ed vamp get
blood off. " vamp (X) " means such vamp currently has X blood on him. The
fluffy details of table talk are not given here, mostly because the various
degrees of tone and the real meanings are inferred from knowing the players
and their style. It's available on the french forum for those who are
interested and able to read french, though. Spectators and players are free
to voice here their own biased opinions, of course.

TTC is 1st seed and therefore wins the tournament. Congratulations to him !
Each played got 1 booster (more or less randomly picked from an assortment
of EK, KoT, LotN, 3rd Ed) and promos. Finalists got IIRC 5 additional
boosters. The winner got ten additional boosters or so.

Wow, really great job on the transcript. I feel like I was there!

Oops! I presume this wasn't intended, since Boss would've ousted Arnaud.
Or was some top-decking needed?

I figure this was intended, figuring weenie ANI would win the duel.
This was unintended. I was getting tired, it was late, I had like 99%
to miss the weenie ani and to self-oust anyway so....
and I did something I never do, I did not remove the blood of my
vampire to put it on the GtU so I thought ok one blood I can pay my
conditionning... oops
however Boss would never have killed Arnaud, I was needing one more
daring the dawn for it I did not have. I think he let Vignes's bleed
pass because of force of personnality meaning if he would wake and try
to block and I play daring, it could be bad for him.

Yes this was intended this time lol. I was intended to lose as much
pool as possible very fast because my predator if pentexed could die
really fast also.
The final misdirection was not. However, would I had figure it would
kill me, I probably would have done so. I tried my best killing
weenie :ANI: in the last 3-4 turns but it was really too difficult. He
had 5 pools too much.
thanks. Will probably use the same format for the tournaments I organize on
my own (i.e. without any multi-judge system), but that's only once a year.
There's another tournament report somewhere on the french forum with a full
transcript of the final (again won by TTC with a Reversal of Fortune deck,
http://www.veknfrance.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=15678), but I confess it's a
bit too much of a hassle to get the translation done.

No, based on the amount of blood Vignes had, plus the fact Arnaud had
clearly declined to block, and definitely the look on TTC's face when he
realized he couldn't pay for the Govern, it wasn't intended. It would
probably have costed him the final if he wasn't top seed.

Yes, this one was intended, the players actually talked about it when they
were down to 3 players. At some point, Quentin also had virtually (i.e.
provided he wasn't blocked) the means to oust both TTC and Arnaud with an
Ancilla, but it would have ended up in 2VPs for Quentin and 2 for TTC, so he
didn't play it. In the meanwhile, Arnaud tried to oust Quentin as fast as he
could as he knew TTC would in last resort impale himself on Arnaud and
probably transferring out for good after that.
The flaw in the strategy is that if it had happened, leaving Quentin and
Arnaud in a duel, Arnaud could have conceded, granting Quentin 3VP and the
win. But it probably wouldn't have fitted with Arnaud's style and mood, so I
guess that's why TTC went that road (or however you're supposed to say it
properly in english, I guess you get the picture).

I don't read very much french, but I can read vtes just fine. That link
is an interesting read. You get the play-by-play of how someone wins with
a trick deck when the trick doesn't exactly come together right away.
Vignes? YAWN.

Is this a taunt to hear an answer like "Kevin M? Yawn."
sure worked
This is not a taunt. You know I respect you and your record.
Part of the YAWN is that I wish that ultra-high level players like
yourself would explore new concepts instead of just racking up
win after win with the same old decks.
The other part of the YAWN is that this stupid deck keeps
ousting enough preys to get into finals and win tournaments. ;)
Kevin M., Prince of Las Vegas
Actually I would say that part of being a good player is exploring all
strong deck-concepts. In that way you will learn more. Both how to
play the concept and through that learn how to handle the concept when
facing it. Also, I'm not sure Orian has any former TW's with Vignes.
Secondly this is a modified version (I still can't believe you got
away with not playing majesties ;)) of the deck.
> The other part of the YAWN is that this stupid deck keeps

What's stupid about it? It's a crazy strong deck and an impressive
build by the Swiss guys. It should get credit instead of yawns :)
Regards
Alex
I also do, but you cannot Just explore new concepts. I played a new
deck at German championships but I have to mix, I cannot just play new
decks(most of them being variant of existing decks).
I also like to play decks that have proven themselves good because
they work the best. As Alex has underlined it, it is also probably a
different version than usual since not running majesties.
> The other part of the YAWN is that this stupid deck keeps

Vignes is stupid but Vignes is strong. During final I have 5 vampires
out on T6, anarch troublemaker on play and pentex in hand. How can I
not kill my prey with that? except weenie intercept of course.
One might say "How can you not play Vignes every tournament forever?"
Tss tss tss.. You ousted me because you had Ranjan, the Traitor. There
is no other reason.
