Beyond the Rules
The most important factor of Themecon and any convention, is that all
attendees: players, helpers and tournament organisers should have an
enjoyable time at the convention. Everybody who is involved with the
convention is contributing something toward its success. It's important to
recognise that everyone contributes to the successful running and enjoyment
of Themecon. So please note the following:
Many problems can be avoided by communication. If you are going to be late,
please inform those involved. If you are off site, phone in.
Be on time for your session. If you are late, you will hold up all other
players and potentially delay other subsequent events. For this reason, we
are imposing a 15 minute limit on late-starters. After that, you forfeit
your tournament.
The most important aspect of the convention is, have fun. Not just in
tournament, but socialise with other players and people. Mingle. Check out
other tournaments and sealed deck tournaments. Experiment, with the variety
of formats. Try something new and have fun!

Mythos
Australian National Open
Australian National Sealed Deck
Australian Solo Championship
Mythos is a game of supernatural horror set in the universe of H.P.
Lovecraft. Unsuspecting people become tangled in the horror of the elder
gods and their insane influence. Players assume the role of an investigator,
telling their tale (adventure) as they discover the existence of the elder
gods and the nightmares they bring. Can you uncover the facts before you are
driven insane?
There will be three Mythos tournaments. A Dreamlands Australian National
sealed deck championship. An open Australian National championship and an
Australian one on one challenge championship.
The National open and sealed deck tournaments will consist of three 50
minute rounds which will determine the qualifying positions for the
finalists. The top four scoring players after the three rounds will play off
in the final without a time limit. Points are awarded for each qualifying
game on the following basis: The winner of each game is determined by adding
their sanity score and their adventure points. Once the winner is
determined, the qualifying points are calculated by accruing adventure
points plus position points. Position points are awarded on the following
basis: 1st = 10, 2nd = 5 and 3rd = 2. Minimum deck size is 52 cards.
The particulars of each event are as follows. Australian National Sealed
Deck. Players get 1 starter and 4 boosters from which to construct their
deck. Players may trade on a one-for-one basis before play begins. Each deck
must have 20 points of adventures.
Australian National Open has the same rules as above, except that each deck
must have at least 25 points of adventures.
The Australian One-on-One challenge solo championship. This is a Swiss style
tournament, that will be played throughout the day when time permits.
Standard decks are to be constructed, with 20 points of adventures. The time
limit for these tournaments is 30 minutes. Each game is scored in the
standard fashion, except that the winner gains 10 points, the loser gains 2.
The winner will be determined by the greatest number of wins and if tied, by
the accumulated points total.
Sponsored by Chaosium and Alternate Worlds.
Wyvern
Australian National Open
Australian National Sealed Deck
Wyvern is a game of mythical dragons, treasure and dragon slayers, where
player vie for control over the six zones of battlefield positions.
There will be two Wyvern tournaments, one sealed deck, and one open
tournament. We are using the standard rules and restrictions as per Wyvern
Shadow #5 with current FAQ's. All tournaments are Swiss style tournaments,
with no time limit. If we have 6 or less competitors, the winner will be
determined by the highest win ratio. If there is 7 or more players, the top
two players will play off in a final. The final will be standard games, with
the first to reach 100 points being declared the winner.
The Australian National Sealed Deck championship will consist of one starter
and one booster each from Chameleon, Phoenix and base editions.
The Australian National Open championship is a standard open constructed
tournament.
