Weights of statues

Has anyone ever noticed this : if you kill a centaur then no matter how
strong you are or how unburdened you are you will never be able to pick
it's corpse up. However if you find a statue of a centaur you can pick it
up even though it will burden you.
Something seems wrong with this, stone tends to be much heavier than
flesh and bone and the statue would presumably be life size.

It's worse: statues seem to have wildly varying weights, so the statue of
one centaur may be carried without burdening you, while another statue
(of perhaps the same kind of centaur) may be too heavy to carry at all!
This is particularly noticeable on the Oracle level when I'm moving the
lighter statues next to the immovable ones to line them all up.

Oh, he just wants to use a single zap with the wand of striking, or
cast force bolt only once...

Oh...right. Another thing i *HATE* to forget....
ever tried out an unknown wand on a monster, and made invisible your pet
which was aligned but out of sight (no lamp) ?
Sniff, without see invisible Meew the Green Elf (once a cat)
was killed by his master rather soon :(
