Shall I genocide the gnomes?

After 20k+ turns my Valkyrie's sacrifice was accepted and I got the
Sunsword from my god. (Had already Excalibur from fountain dipping.)
Now I wonder where Mjollnir is? I've not yet found it lying around.
Shall I probably genocide all those peaceful gnomes just in case one
of them had picked it up? Clearly, I don't really need that artifact
to continue, but as a valkyrie I feel somewhat compelled to look for
it.

A trained dog shall be enough. It costs only a tripe ration and
some patience; also, it works on dwarves too.

Yeah, true.
My current character ignores all pets, though. And I am reluctant to
initiate that enduring procedure, i.e. to get some adequate pet and
visit all the possible levels (~25+) again; because, as occurred to
me, there's also the possibility that some gelatineous cube just ate
the artifact, and all effort would count for nothing in that case.
I should be happy with what I've got, anyway; that light-sword which
is a nice substitute for the missing magic lamp.
