Obviously geno is a good strategy, but if you're not going to kiss L's
goodbye in one puff, what can you do to take care of these bad boys.
As I've found out MR is NECESSARY when going up against an Arch-Lich
since they cast finger-o-death. A demi-lich cast destroy-armor on my
cloak. Are there any good theories on killing these things?
Obviously, polymorph works -- but that's 'cheating' a bit and you
might as well geno them.

Any suggestions? Spoilers welcome

Is that obvious? Or do they resist?

Ziggy, killed by a blast of frost.

Playing a Knight, you would have gotten much better results hitting
them with magic missile spells. (Especially if you got 'em up against
a wall.)

True, but by the same token they won't follow you when you levelport,
so just levelport up one, then come down.

They are vulnerable to stoning. As soon as you have the ability to do
so, turn yourself into a female cockatrice and lay a large supply of
eggs. Whenever a master lich or arch-lich appears, wield an egg and
bash them with it. (If you throw the egg, it might well miss.)

One thing to watch out for when you employ this strategy is that you
lose one point of luck every time you break an egg that was still
viable.

The wimpy way :-)
Go to the upstairs, engrave Elbereth with a /oFire and just hit them when
they teleport next to you.
Very easy!
