Has anyone tried to apply magic candles to the Candelabrum?

I wonder whether 7 magic candles will persist in a Candelabrum
or whether they get extinguished at some point. Similar with a
partly filled Candelabrum and a Candelabrum with mixed sorts of
candles, magic and non-magic ones.

As far as I recall candles in the Candelabrum are just counted,
but yet I haven't heard of additional stored attributes like
the candle type(s).

use_candle() in apply.c has a comment which states
| Artifact candles can't be attached to candelabrum
| (magic candles still can be).
which seems pretty clear. I've never tested that though.
(The quest artifact for the flame mage role is a magic
candle. My limited playing way back when never got a
flame mage far enough to see it.)

Candles are used up as part of being attached. Not only
does the candelabrum's light not become persistent, it
doesn't last any longer than if you use tallow candles.

My logfile says that I've ascended five flame mages but
obviously I haven't thought about trying it at these times.
That source code comment clears the (artifact-)part of the
question. What remains is the more common (non-artifact)
'magic candle' case WRT its persistency.

So, whether tallow, wax, or magic; all candle types will
be rapidly consumed? What a pity. But that simplifies the
implementation I assume.

Thanks for clearing that question!
