Hi, I have just been playing my best wizard ever (normally play Samurai,
barbs and Valks) and discovered a magic lamp in Izack's store, I have
blessed it and I'm wondering what to wish for.
I have a terrible AC of +3 (the wizard is lvl10 now!) so I'm thinking about
armour. Normally I go for +2 blessed fixed GDSM but he got magic resistance
at the start so I dont need grey. What other colours of Dragon Scale Mail
would be good, or shoul I go for an artifact (after many sacrifices I still
haven't got one) or some other special wizard iitem like an amazing spell
book or something else I don't know of (eg HElm of Amazing spell skils!)
Thanks for your help.

Go for the Silver Dragon Scale Mail. It gives you reflection. You may
get an amulet that does the same thing in Sokoban, but you might as well
leave the slot free for something else (e.g. "oLS).

Keep sacrificing. You're bound to get Magicbane eventually.

You can get these by sacrificing eventually, too.

There is a Helm of Brilliance, which you might want to burn a 3rd or 4th
wish on, when you get them. (2nd should be speed boots.)
Early useful wishes for wizards:
Good quest artifacts are listed below, but if you want normal items:
blessed +2 silver dragon scale mail is a very good choice for the
customer already possessing magic resistance (dragon scales do not
rust in any way so wishing for fixed dragon scales is pointless)
blessed +2 helm of brilliance is a good choice if you're an orc and
have trouble casting spells, this is your amazing spell skills helm I
suppose, it increases both intelligence and wisdom by the enchantment
level
other possible choices:
speed boots: these are useful for anyone
gauntlets of dexterity: increases dex by enchantment, dex increases
spell casting ability (I think?)
And probably some other stuff
Quest Artifacts:
Neutral:
blessed orb of fate: extremely useful artifact, probably the most
powerful in the game, reduces all damage to 1/2, acts as a luckstone,
and when #invoked, it allows you to level teleport (teleport control
recommended)
blessed eyes of the overworld: these grant you magic resistance (which
you do not seem to need), and x-ray vision which lets you see as
though walls did not exist, and provide enlightenment when #invoked.
blessed platinum yendorian express card:
This reduces spell damage and when invoked will recharge wands and
other things needign charging, this can be useful but I have never
personally used a wish on it.
Chaotic:
blessed master key of thievery: an excellent artifact for chaotic
characters, it reduces physical damage by one half, and grants you
teleport control early.
It also gives you rumors based on its b/u/c status, and acts as a key.
It's invocation is fairly useless, but since I've mentioned it for all
others, it removes all traps from boxes and doors. I have never
invoked it

[ Wizard's first wish - Orb of Fate? ]

Not recommended for a lower level Wizard.
Remember: Fate is heavy. And wizards don't normally have a huge caryying
capacity. If you've not already got a blessed BoH and STR greater than,
I dunno, make it 16 or 17, you'll not be carrying much else except the Orb.
Other than that, yes, it's the most kick-ass Quest Artifact I've seen so
far.

Big damage in a weapon class wizards can get to expert in, hungerless regen,
invoke for *big* healing stuff.

Sorry for previous top post.
You left out the big quest artifact wish (IMO), the healer's Staff of
SDSM is a good next choice; it grants reflection. +3 gives a higher avg.
enchantment.

Fair enough point I suppose, but personally I stick with mb the whole
game on a wizard.. by the time the 2x damage is really worth it, I
ahve the quest artifact and I'm abusing everything with magic.. And by
the time the invocation is really a handy thing to have, I probably
have seen enough artifacts that I'm not going to blow a wish on it.
But, it's a good point and I shouldn't have forgotten it.. I wuold
call it a low priority choice, but it's certainly debatable.
