w128 - "Speed extinctionist" *really long*

W128 was started to be exactly what she ended up as - an extinctionist. An
early wish was used for the Eyes of the Overworld, both for the vision
benefits, the (i)nvoke for enlightment, and to ditch the MR cloak slot for
[Oilskin. Plus, I think it's cool as heck.
Goals for this character were:
1. get all armor +7 or better
2. make a +10 weapon
3. get totally rid of the riders on astral

I'd never have the patience for extinctionist without pet Archons to mop up
created monsters. I killed only a small fraction myself - it was create,
create, create and the pets cleared monsters as fast as I could make'em.

I took notes at certain turns to measure progress.

On Astral Plane my plan was to clear out the level and then read confused
?CM until the level was filled with acid blobs. Then kill a rider and

(Thanks to the extinctionist FAQ for this trick!)

Correct. CM will forever create monsters (X and B) on the quest level, so
I killed'em all, then Geno'ed them for completeness.

Nice job, I'm impressed. The Archons are a good idea. If I weren't being stubbornly
petless I might copycat you there with my extinctionist, but I have at least couple
hundred thousand turns to go in my estimate and she bores me so much that I can't play
more than 5k turns in any one sitting so it'll be months probably.

Why are these unenchanted at the end?

Is it possible to "extinct" these kinds of monsters? Or will they just
be "generated continuosly" (for K), could always be the results of
polymorphs (woodchucks), are impossible to generate (;)?

I meant just that it was pretty quick for an extinction game. (Maybe

The archons beat the heck out of everything, including many Disenchanters.

have not been created with CM or remained undetected?

All the +7 stuff was elven boots and cloaks enchanted to +7, then polyed. I
did evap quite a a few elven cloaks and boots going for +8 stuff, and only
one of the +8 things became useful.
(the +8 shirt)

The +8 Magicbane was made when I felt lucky.

I kept enchanting long swords till I got one to +9, then donned a [OA and
dipped.

Many lichs and such drank !GL, so when they died, they were counted as the
next higher level.

of the overages.

I can't explain this either, but I missed none, as I cast Detect Monster on
every level of every branch and "felt lonely".

That's certainly a great strategy for doing it. Was your mana level
the limiting factor? Or not at all? I'm impressed at how fast you
won. I've played "normal" games that took longer than that. ;)

That's an impressive amount of hit points. Was that all from alchemy?
The one time I had nearly that many I kept "feeling like a new woman"
and upping my hit points proportionally that way.

You can't blame the RNG there. Monsters created via reverse
genocide (or cursed bell or Book) have their starting inventory
suppressed. All you'll ever get from them, as far as objects go,
is whatever might be randomly created when they die (and boulders
aren't possible from that).

Mana wasn't limiting me, as I'd read confused b?Charging immediately upon
using up my PW. Each CM session ended when I became stressed from all the ?
and ! I was picking up and stuffing into my blessed BoH for later
blanking/polying.

As I said, my obsession during the game was overenchanting stuff. For this
I blanked ? and !, lined'em up 4? and 4! per pile and polyed till I was blue
in the face, keeping only scrolls of EnchantFoo (once I'd made the +10
silver daggers I only kept ?EA)
and smoky!Confusion, !FH, and !GL.

I'd quaff all the potions, use up the ?EA making +7 (and some +8) elven
boots/cloaks, and then poly the armor. I estimate that *at least* 25% of
the moves in the game were spent on these endeavors.

Yep. I topped out close to 10K HP, but lost HP to careless rider handling
on Astral.

wouldn't keeping all of the healing potions for alchemy be more
efficient.

The high HP was less of a goal for me than high PW, so if I got !FH I'd
quaff'em, but otherwise I wanted wishes (for PYEC) or !GL for the HP/PW
combo boost.
