For the Knight who has everything, what good is gold?

night and sent me a few messages warning me of the dangers of Ixoth
(as an aside I know I've asked before, but how do I answer someone who
sends me a message on NAO) .
So rather than risk killing my knight, I went back up to dlvl where
there was an alter and a sink and well I'll let your imagination run
wild there. Anyway 15-20k turns later I have almost everything I need
to ascend including a natural -15 AC. Another aside, I still had to
flee a couple of times before I finally killed Ixoth (he's almost as
hard as Master Kean).
Anyway back to the point of this post. Now normally I use gold to buy
protection from priests. But obviously buying protection at this
point won't work. So other than carrying some pocket change around
for the odd shop and bribing a demon or two, what else can I do with
all this gold? I've found the fort and am drowning in gold. Also I
don't want to end up with a bunch of gold golems either.
Any ideas?

Gold is useful for points, in the end. Thing is that gems are usually
worth (in score value) more than their weight in gold. In other
words: stock up on gems, ditch the gold. If you just have spare cash
and you're not burdened when you hit up the elements, pick up a few
piles until you're burdened, drop until you're unburdened, before
walking upstairs (just to get the easy extra score).
Fact is, unless you've shops to buy stuff from, your gold has little/
no usefulness.
Oh. If you have levitation, throwing GP may let you travel through
the air.

Some people use the gold to buy A LOT of Clairvoyance from the Valley-
of-the-dead priest, so that it's faster to map Gehennom.

Nope. It uses the normal timeout routines, which _are_ capped, but only
at TIMEOUT. And TIMEOUT is 0x00ffffffL, i.o.w. 16777215 turns.
