Has anyone tried to create a TTF font to use with roguelikes, thus
allowing people who want pictures to use regular roguelikes, and leaving
people who like ascii with whatever font they prefer?

7 bit would be limiting, but 8 bit (extended / high) ascii would cope
fine.
