Excellent. I hope it doesn't go the way of the Crawl wiki (and will try
to not let that happen).
Yet another POWDER wiki? One is not enough? You have less information than
the original does so maybe it would be better to improve that one:

That's not a POWDER Wiki. That's a Roguelike WIKI with a section on
Powder. And it's not as technical.
Sorry, the WIKI was locked. I'll have it fixed shortly.
The roguebasin sub-section is a POWDER wiki as it has grabbed that
POWDER/ namespace for its own nefarious purposes. However, just
because there is one POWDER wiki doesn't mean there can't be more than
one.
The POWDER_Gameplay has been moving towards a more technical analysis
recently, possibly at tension with some people's desires who want a
less numerical spoiler site. Perhaps this could be used as a dividing
line between the two?
There are obvious advantages to single centralized sources - less
redundant work, for example. However, in this Web2.0 world people
seem to forget that there are serious disadvantages - when one site
goes dark it takes everything with it. Consider that almost
everything I've posted to USENET still is searchable today, while
maybe 1% of what I've posted to web forums is still extant. The
redundant work can be addressed by, I think, copying articles where
appropriate. I presume both wiki's have interchangeable licenses? I
know the intent of roguebasin is for the content to be forkable/
copyable - heck, its own history has had two transfers so far.
Just please re-lock the wiki if you abandon it, otherwise we'll just
get a POWDER themed spam site :>

Sounds good to me.

Definitely. I've put quite a bit of time in already to writing
articles, and we currently have over 180+ pages. (With at least 300+
more to come!)
So if I do decide to stop working on the site, i'll be locking it down
again.
I'm registered as JoeB, and I've created the page for Spear. I hope
getting information from the source package isn't considered
cheating. :P
In source.txt:
2595: losetxt "%U no longer can wield two wapons."
Haha. I'll see what I can do. I'll go submit it to the Googlebot now.
I'll see if I can help out with tips and strategies and stuff.
Created this document. Feel free to add to it; it is by no means
complete. I still have to do a section on pure ranged characters as
well.
By the way - may I suggest a short URL rewrite as outlined in the
MediaWiki uhm Wiki (he, he)?
http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Short_URL
I used to run some Wikis and I always shortened the URLs because it
makes typing in page titles more intuitive if you use your address bar
and not the search function. =)
Hmm - my previous post in this thread somehow disappeared - I'll re-
post it. ^^
"I for my part find a new Wiki project a nice idea - the more info on
POWDER there is, the more people will be willing to play the game,
IMHO.
I know the stance of many people when it comes to spoilers BUT that's
exactly the kind of information that could be obtained from a Wiki
with
a well structured article framework (which the Roguebasin Wiki
doesn't
provide you with).
Some people study the Source Code to figure out certain things (me =
guilty as charged :-P) and others don't and never get to see some
funny/interesting things. POWDER is a "borderline" Rogue-Like,
halfway
between more complicated (not necessarily better) RLs and a nice
turn-based dungeon hack&slash - a perfect opportunity to draw some
players into the whole genre. Yet I find that there's still not
enough
information about the gameplay for the average non-RL player for the
game to be attractive, so a Wiki might help.
In fact I'm pondering to start a Let's Play POWDER video series on
Youtube since there was only ONE attempt at doing that and it died
after
two videos... If we were to combine this with a Wiki and the
awesomeness
of POWDER I'm sure we could draw the attention of e.g. Rock, Paper,
Shotgun and after that the sky's the limit. (They posted about
ZangbandTK recently.)
I really think POWDER needs more exposure since it's such a fun
project
- I'd pay for it (which I did as a sign of appreciation ^^) for sure.
Best regards
Lim-Dul"
