Have you ever felt like the original ASCII tileset was too *butt*?
Or you're feeling slightly happy?

Entering Terminal Blues, a tileset where the Hacklike is reimagined in a deep blue terminal aesthetic. Featuring:

- Terrain, monsters and items, all in Code Page 437/ASCII!
- Custom fonts

Well that is actually it... I really hope you enjoy it though. There's even colourblind support planned.

I have to admit for a certain fondness for the original POWDER tileset -
not aesthetically appealing, but highly functional. I remember when we
were both playing, Clare saying of one of the later tilesets that "it
looks pretty, but every monster looks a bit like a chicken."

If we aren't perfectly synchronised this corncob will explode!
Today is Aponoia, December.
Tomorrow will be Epithumia, December - a weekend.

I specifically specified the old ASCII tileset. The other ones range from eye-bleeding to decent, and that's fine.

As for the Blues, I aim for functionality as well. While textures can be a little bit distracting, letter glyphs are easily recognisable, and the palettes have been tweaked to hell and back to ensure ease of differentiation and colourblind support (21 shades! that is hell of redundant - I try to reduce the use of some of them so there would only be about 15 used in the dungeon, the rest can be spell gradient colouring only). Aesthetically, I'm actually tired of it already from all the testing, but I'm sure it looks at least decent to the new eyes.

You know, it's the 21st century, the future! You could use some
Unicode. ;-)

What's the font in this screenshot?

It looks eerily familiar. Like a derivative of the standard Amiga
system font.

It's the default font POWDER uses, which seems to be a modification of the old IBM CGA font.

Today I learned that the default Amiga font (for AmigaOS before 2.0)
was a IBM CGA derivative.

Amazes me that you can still learn stuff 30 years on.

Thanks for that info!
