[OMEGA] Cursed items

doing fairly well by my standards (went up a rank in Gladiator, gained a few
experience levels, had some decent items, etc.) but got screwed with cursed
boots of heroism... he now can't fight at all. Most roguelikes are pretty
obvious about how to uncurse stuff (scroll of remove curse and whatnot), but
I've never seen a scroll of remove curse, not even after reading a Jane's Guide
to Treasure: scrolls, IIRC. Would a scroll of enchantment do it? Even if
that's the case, I doubt I can survive long enough to find one if I can't fight
at all. Is there some way of doing it in town, or is this character just plain
screwed?

The best way I can think of off the top of my head is to get the item
blessed. You can do this by pleasing your deity and then asking for
a blessing. One of the easiest ways to please your deity is to sacrifice
something of value.

Your deity can remove curses, and some enchantments can lift curses. If
you're willing to lose the object, you can also destroy it (unless it's
powerfully charged; don't destroy a magic wand) by pressing 'Z'. It may
take a few tries.
Cursing isn't the worst thing that can be done to you, by the way.
Disenchantment is FAR nastier.
