Take a look at this screenshot:

I don't think I'm supposed to see the mouse - or does it have some
kind of special power? :-P

Hmm ... again:

I could be wrong, but shouldn't the skeleton be out of my FOV?

OK, now a room I haven't 'discovered' yet is visible to me:

:-)

PS: I'll stop spamming now, but it seems there is a bug with the FOV
code. :-/

This is because you can see lit squares even if there are unlit
squares between you and the target. Rooms are usually lit by default,
as are the walls. Thus these FOVs look right to me.

I suppose so, but I'm still finding it a bit strange, that you can see
monsters in a lit room a few squares away, but you can't see monsters
in the unlit corridor in between.

Unless ... question: if a monster were to stand in front of the room's
entrance, on an unlit square, would I still be able to see the rat?

Of course, it's probably a matter of preference as to whether the in-
between squares are lit or not. You might argue that the light from
the room ahead would make them 'lit' as well - yet, they're not as
much 'lit' as the room squares, so I guess it's a coin toss.

Oh, and I couldn't resist adding another screenshot:
