Of course my roque, as soon as its out :)
The only one else that comes to mind and is no variant of the above
would be Ragnaroek, at least if you don't insist on an ASCII mode.

Omega - Open-ended with multiple paths to victory, even the ability to
multi/change class midgame

Ragnarok - Graphical, but still good for that

Linley's Dungeon Crawl (if it's still called that) or Crawl for short
- One of the most popular "recent" crop, and possibly big enough for
its own group soon

Alphaman - Play it to disbelieve it

Larn - One of the originals, without the usual "save the world by
killing Foozle" ending

Diablo - I'll burn in hell for this, I'm sure. And anyway, it's not
very good as a roguelike - fewer weapons, monsters, and classes than
anything but Rogue itself. The sequel is little better.

You could try Crawl or Omega, they are both good. Omega tends to be a
little less playable to a beginner, bt it is very fun once you get into
it.

Larn is cute, you fight to save the life of your sick daughter, not
for fame or fortune. It's a bit prone to abuse (one local player
inisted on completing the quest in negative time, at higher and higher
levels of difficulty), but if you play it straight it is nicely
balanced.

The Minstrel's Song is a more rarely known variant which some people like
because of the rich setting.

It's a good one, all right. It's also intriguing in that it deliberately
uses no magic. Unfortunately, it's rather buggy.
