If I'm lucky I may even finish something this time :)

4 hours in. I now have a back story and a random name generator for my
towns.

Not as much progress as I'd hoped, but I got carried away with the name
generator, it was quite fun.

Anyway the premise is that you play a demon, trying to bring about the fall
of goodness in the world. The setting is sort of vaguely Scandinavian.

The story:

The history of Eirr is one of cycles. At the end of each cycle the great war
Ornvarumr takes place between the followers of the demon Ragnyr and the
Aesinur, the warriors of Light led by the God Heimir. In the course of
Ornvarumr, the world is destroyed and reborn. The two sides fight for an
ancient artifact, the Orb of Vaenir, which is said to contain both within
and without itself all of existence, and which destroys the mind of any
mortal foolish enough to gaze into it.

Once one of the Aesinur yourself, you betrayed Heimir during a pivotal
moment in the final battle, winning the Orb and the world for the forces of
darkness. Your betrayal earnt you the favour of the demon lord Ragnyr, and
you ruled by his side, enforcing his will in a long dark period of ice,
madness and eternal night. His rule was finally brought to an end by the
hero Birgrimr, a mortal of great guile and cunning who tricked Ragnyr into
opening the seal between worlds, allowing the Aesinur to return from their
exile and bring about Ornvarumr, aided for the first time in the history of
Eirr by a group of mortal men, led by Birgrimr, which tipped the scales in
the favour of the forces of Light, sending Ragnyr and his minions screaming
back into the void.

But not all of the forces of Ragnyr were banished from this plane. In the
final battle of Ornvarumr, as mountains were flattened, seas drained and
deserts flooded, you fought for 40 days and 40 nights in single combat
against the Aesinur General Haldir, succumbing only when Haldir tore up from
Eirr the entire mountain range of Rikr, bringing it down upon your shoulders
and destroying your worldy body, sending your soul screaming back into
limbo...

Or so they thought. For thousands of years you have lain beneath Eirr,
heavily weakened, in a form of hibernation with no consciousness of the
passing of time, covered in a blanket of stone many hundreds of metres
thick. You may have slept for another thousand years, gradually weakening
until you finally expired, but fate does not favour long cycles between
Ornvarumr. In the darkness you finally stir... something has awakened you!

Progress update:

Have had very little time to code, almost no new code. I have had several
hours away from the computer in which I was able to do some design work
though, so hopefully that will save me some time when I find some time to
actually implement it.

I'm not lucky!

Officially fail.

Not going to abandon the project though, it's coming along nicely
