Angel of Death in the open and without resist nether. I'd just killed
Baphomet the Minotaur Lord (in two stages) without ANY healing items
(I forgot to restock after killing Azriel).
This time I'd dropped all my staffs (including 2 speed and 2 teleport)
to lure Vecna, the Emperor Lich's escort out, when Tselakus, the
Dreadlord showed up. I was one space away from picking up a useful
staff when he summoned greater undead around me, so I phase doored
away into a parallel corridor. This time he summoned wimpy undead (2
white wraiths, 2 grave wights), so it was game on. One healing potion
later, it was going quite well, and I'd just got Tselakus down to 2*
<He's down to two stars - not long now! - It wasn't...>, but I wasn't
looking at *my* health closely enough, and he got TWO attacks in (I
was only speed +16). Not sure what the first one was (I now see he can
do up to 248 damage hand-to hand), but the second was an unresisted
darkness storm, and I was looking at the headstone.
Maybe I should have started carrying teleport scrolls and speed
potions (as I was advised to), rather than saving them for the end (I
wouldn't have dropped them then). I could have quaffed my other
healing potion. I could have phase doored. I could have tried to
teleport him away. I.. I.. I suck.

Oh yeah, and a long time ago I killed a 9-headed hydra without fire
resistance.

I remember killing my first drolem at -3 speed and 600hps!
(It needed a few healing potions though...). I wasn't so
