Currently having my most successful attempt in that
1) I'm not dead yet
2) I've actually worked out it's better to shoot a lot of things than hit
them
(even with 4x swings per cround).

I have not had a character finish stat gain yet and am getting a bit bored
at 1750' but
the occasional thing (angels, draconic Q's) make me glad not to be at 2000'.

just found a ring of resist poison and that makes me wonder if I should be
deeper.

oh yeah, colannon rocks.
btw I have bought & read every *o*ID* that I have found.
any advice much regarded.

That's always a good thing.

Well, that's because...

This is a defensive weapon. As a fighter, you really should be trying
to use something that will do some real damage. You've got the basic
resistances covered elsewhere. Aranruth would provide free action, as
you can see. But Haradekket and a ring of free action would give you a
very nice weapon and allow you to have both FA and SI. You don't
really *need* resist poison yet. It's *nice*, but it is less important
than being able to do some serious hurt in melee. And I say that as
someone who really likes that +4 to stealth.

This is a nice weapon. But as a fighter, you need strong melee and
missile both.

(Note: I didn't consider any of your un-*ID*ed artifacts because I
don't know how spoiled you are/want to be with respect to their
abilities. Plus, I don't have a copy of 3.0 to check for recent
changes.)
