I found armor of Elvenkind at the armor store, so I don't have to organize my
entire kit around just getting the four basic resists. I think I'm ready to
head towards stat gain, but I'm trying to do it slowly so I don't end up toast.
Am I strong enough to survive around 1500'?

Is this because you fear the weight to be a problem?

Depending on the weight I would probably prefer this weapon above
Narthanc, since it gives you See Invis. Try and find out if it
has a random resist.

With kind regards,

Go to 1500' and see ;)
Big problem is that there are many monters you really need to avoid -
detect them. If you see an unknown monster, leave it alone. If it is
fast, and wakes up, run for the stairs.

I would be a bit worried about see invisible. There are some invisible
monters you do not want to fight that start popping up refularly around
dlvl 33 (invisible, fast and deadly). You have the spell so use it,
and detect. A permanent source would be very useful. Even if you have
a permanent source, detect.

You have Colannon, +3 to speed. Carry spare spellbooks, a good longbow,
and some arrows. You can afford losing a few points of speed, but there
are monsters that will steal/burn your books.

Seconded. You are strong (for a mage) and have extra speed, so the
weight shouldn't be an issue.

Holy Avenger has a random sustain.

Excellent point. I originally equipped the dagger for resist fire, but now that
I have that from armor, I can switch back to the holy avenger.

See invisible is nice, but I have infravision and detection, so it's not a huge
deal (yet).

Ugh. All it will take is a single slightly OoD dread getting the jump
on you from off-screen, or if you have to teleport. You don't have
enough HP to go head-to-head with a Dread. (They do 100HP with a
nether bolt, and move at double speed.)

Take the minor speed penalty. You can afford it a lot easier.

Agreed. I'm wielding the Holy Avenger now. I'm at +1 speed normally, but I also
managed to hit 1500', so I'm hoping to up my strength soon. In the meantime, no
invisible little bastards are going to get the drop on me.
