Martti Ihrasaari: This was already explained in the obsolete Zangband
FAQ. Martti _Ahti_saari is the president of Finland. What a
coincidence...
Freesia: Replaces "Garfield" from Z1.*. Garfield would have been
too lazy to hunt anything anyway. Freesia is a different matter
entirely: there was a RL Freesia (recently deceased), who was
a complete maniac. If you stroked the cat, he would start purring,
turn around... and suddenly strike a lightning, sinking his claws
in your wrist (actually happened to me about every time I as much
as touched the cat). If you sat on a sofa and let your arms hang
behind the sofa, Freesia would sneak there, and _jump_ at your
hands with his claws extended to strike -- I managed to dodge,
and Freesia hung there, on to the back of the sofa, with his
claws. I hate think what it would have felt like if he had hit...
Kharis the Powerslave: Originally, Kharis the Mummy in Z1.*
The name Kharis in this context does not refer to the Graces
of the Greek myth, but rather is the name of a nasty mummy
from an old horror picture (Mummy's Curse or something like
that). I never saw the movie, actually, but learned the name
from a guy in an D&D group (more than 10 years ago, when I
still played rpg's), who would always call his dwarves
"Kharis" (and never played anything but dwarves). Then the
gm (who happened to be his big brother) would jeer at him
for picking a mummy's name for his character...
The second part of the name, "Powerslave", is indeed a reference
to the Iron Maiden album, as Julian Lighton pointed out (their
best album IMO :-).

"DOES DR MCCOY KNOW?
FASA's Star Trek: The Role-Playing Game describes the Klingon Agonizer as hand-
held device 'applied to the left shoulder just above where the ear is located
in humans.'" (MURPHY'S RULES)
And also, some more town chars would be nice - maybe a master thief and
a brave adventurer type (what about Cohen from Pratchett`s books - see
Interesting Times)

Do we already have a "Zoltan Hound of Dracula"?
And the Metallica quotes when things die just keep me going...
The best Maiden Album was the one with "Mother Russia" on.
I forget the name now, but that was the best.
