The Angband Code is an attempt to produce a Geek Code-alike allowing you
to boast about your Angband prowess, indicate the progress of your current
game and/or make your views on such things as set quests and scumming
abundantly clear to anyone reading your sig!
I've had a good few requests for this, and I'm sorry it took so long - you
know how it is. I'd be happy to post a text version to the group, but it's
around 30k - not sure whether people would appreciate that. Shout if
you've strong views either way.
In any case, it can be retrieved via
<http://www.argonet.co.uk/users/harris/angband>, and I'd *like feedback*,
either here or by private mail.
Enjoy :-)

Neat. Some of the descriptions for the codes are absolutely hilarious.

There are a fair number of races and classes missing.

No, I'm not kidding, a yeek arcane high mage. I went through five or six
of them this weekend, almost getting one to level 20, and had a blast with
it. I've also learned to stay out of the Sting quest until I'm higher,
that WoR in he wilderness will take you down to the dungeon and that
eventually starvation will kill you, and that Old Man Willow is not to be
approached without FA. Best of all, after playing this combo, _any_ other
combination will seem easy!

I laugh at danger! I eat it for breakfast!
Hmm, maybe I should add "F:quivering web of chain fireballs".

Nah, Tk as OS is reasonable. It should say "platform" instead,
maybe. But they don't count as variants, just other ports of
a few popular variants.

It is under "Platform", actually. I agonized long and hard about the *band
Tks, but decided they should be under platform for two reasons.
Firstly, they only run under Windows at present. That means that saying
you use "Tk" is as good as saying that you use "Tk and Windows". Secondly,
the fact of OangTk and AngTk and ZangTk would mightily confuse things if
they were all included.
Z/O Tk is clearly Zang or Oang under *band Tk, whereas
ZTk/OTk W is effectively the same, but less elegant and 3 characters
longer.

That isn't strictly a clash because the first character of the status
section is designated the "game type" (current, win etc) and the remainder
of the status letters are things like wizard mode, ironmanship, cheating
etc.
Basically, it can be worked out by position, though I appreciate it could
be clearer. It'd break "C"urrent games as well, though, and I'd rather not
make it less backwards-compatible than it is already...

Please do so - the more the merrier :-)
