> What is the best weapon in the game (beside Ringil)?
My vote would have to go to the Glaive of Pain. 10d6 +30 damage means
anyone who gets hit with it will just be in a world of hurt. Other
weapons may be sexier, have neater slays, or activate for neat stuff,
but nothing deals the damage out to EVERYTHING like the Glaive.
Note that this vote is based entirely on what I have found while playing
the game--I havn't gone through spoiler files and compared damage-doing
abilities; this is just by far the best weapon my now 50th level character
has found.

Why don't you get the spoilers and clear out your closet? Why ask for
something that you don't have? Just check them out and use the best.
My best weapon is the Battle Axe of Balli Stonehand. Just watch the
stats jump when I put him on and the slay and protects that it also
brings me. BTW, how can we take everything into account for you?
Ringul is the best, but until we find him we use the best we have.
My best weapon is

Personally I'd go for Deathwreaker. It has 4d10 as a base, and some nice
bonuses. It can also tunnel rock just like that! It does aggravate, though,
but if you're powerful enough that shouldn't be a problem.

BEAT.DEAD.HORSE. ;)
but seriously, I like Circasidan (bad sp :) ) 4d5 dam plus the goodies.
unrelated question,
I recently purchased from the Black Market Gaunlet of Power +5 to
STRENGTH!!! I thought the MAX was 3. I am confused. Is it a glitch?
hmm
another thing, one time (when I was lower level dude) I purchased two
Rings of Slaying (+15, +16)!!! Min dam was 32 with the rings! What is the
max on things like this??

I dunno ... I found that on general the Glaive of Pain just didn't do
enough damage ... basically, a great Flame Brand or Lightning Brand, combined
with other great slays tends to be more effective as you can get more attacks
with them (this from a Hobbit Mage with 18/1** strength). I dumped the Glaive
really quickly. At one point I was carrying the Glaive, Deathwreaker and the
Trident of Ulmo, and found Deathwreaker easily the best of the three.

Well now, my 38th level priest (chillin' at 1850 feet) has never found
anything anywhere near as good as the Bastard Sword Calris. +5 to CON,
X Dragon and Slay everything else, 3d7 (+9, +20) (you have to use several
dozen scrolls of Enchant Weapon to-hit on it before you can use it, though,
and it does Aggravate) OH YEAH it also has Disenchantment Resistance!
If it is not the _BEST_ weapon (besides Ringil) I'd bet money it is in the
top three (Last week I found Glamdring _and_ Orcrist. Sold them both to
that skinflint Half-Troll Ithyl-Mak the Beastly without even thinking
about it)
Krata the Calm, 38th level human priest chillin' at 1850 feet with CALRIS,
Hammerhand, Thranduil, ROS 1 and BOS 1.

** SPOILER TO FOLLOW **
According to my spoiler file Calris is:
a Bastard Sword named Calris (3d7) (-20,+20) [+5] CON
Slay Xdragon, Demon, Troll, Evil
Resist Disenchant
Aggravate
xdragon, demon, troll, and evil hardly qualifies as "everything" in
my book ... granted that Calris is a great weapon (especially the +
5 CON), but there are weapons out there with many more slays like
say Zarcuthra ...

For dragonslaying i would say the black arrow with a composite bow of might
is pretty deadly with a average damage of 500-1200 hp (depends on the bow)

4d10, with good pluses. Adds to DEX, slays dragons and animals. Weighs
almost nothing, so it's easy to get many attacks with it.
I love it!

Quotations from Brainy Smurf.. 8^) But very true!
anyway, I like Hammer of Aule. Most demons (i think) are not immune to
electricity. They are too easy to kill. Dragons run in fear with my
hammer and Ring of slaying (+15, +16) and RoS and BoS +1. Also Gaunlet of
Power +5 strength. Plus, if you are a priest! +5 to wis! wow
This is my second "fav" weapon after Ringuil. Also, Curbelel(sp) is very
nice to have also.
You know... I have NEVER found Bladeturner or the MHDSM (special one) in
any game. What is the deal? Where should I look for it? I WANT IT. :)
thanks

Let us not forget some of the better dragon bashers --
Doomcaller -- 118
and Trident of Ulmo -- 85
The trident has awesome damage for weighing only five pounds, and does
more average with SD than most XD's do. Who needs XD when you do
4d10 +19 ?

"Insanity is the logic of an accurate mind overtaxed."
How did you work out these values against dragons? To dragons, some average
damages are:
Doomcaller: 5(6d5)+28 = 118.
Deathwreaker: 3(4d12)+18 = 96.
Aule: 5(5d5)+21=96.
Zarcuthra: 5(4d6)+21 = 91.
Calris: 5(3d7)+20 = 80.
Durin: 5(4d4)+20 = 70.
Gurthang: 5(3d6)+17 = 69.5.
Taratol: 5(2d7)+12 = 52.
The Glaive of Pain does an average of (10d6)+30 = 65 to everything.
David.
