YOUR HISTORY:
Your parents are travelling adventurers. They are doing moderately
well but are talented enough to survive.
As a young child you were often alone. You did not have any
friends. You do not like to remember those times. They were very sad.
During your youth you had a lot of fun playing with other kids of
your age. You always were a natural leader and the center of interest.
As a young adult you tried many occupations before finally deciding
on one to pursue. This has left you with a very broad base of lore.
You decided to become a Wizard.

This was my best fairy so far. I managed to fly over all rivers and pit traps
but in this screenshot i just got splatted by a door that was swung wide open
by a monster. Killing keethrax was really hard and gardening wasnt quite worth
it. The ring\girdle really helped me do damage and i had high
backstabbing\stealth so i could harrass anything smaller than an orc. Oh well,
i think i'll go fire up a Vampire Monk.

Hehe... if it is, major thumbs up for introducing my joint second favourite
mythical creatures as playable characters ^_^. Shame it's unlikely to be
true though.

Cool flg, I've made a few mocked up ones in the past for interest's sake. I
think your opinion on the size of a Faerie differs somewhat to mine..
Thimble for armour? Personal opinion I guess, I won't bring statistical
evidence into this :p

I share your opinion on this. I was poking around in the RFE's and saw a req
for fairies. Tinkerbell came to mind. 3" f*Cking tinkerbell. The most
rediculous class for this would be barbarian...
Had alot of fun making the fake post.

About the only races i would want added are mist elves (which Creator wanted
for 1.0) and black hurthlings. If deluxe would include the ability to play any
humanoid char and thier sublcasses, i'd pay as much as $30 US. ah, ogre magi....
ice giant berserkers....
werewolf king!

Do those count as swords, clubs or spears?

Fairies in Wizardry 8 are a heck of a lot of fun... and their portraits make
them look nice and mysterious and magical and vaguely Oriental, not
Tinkerbellish at all. :) The RFE itself is extremely flawed, of course. Way
too ubermunchkiny.

Just say NO to more elves.

...dude. And I thought I was the only one who wanted that. Gollum, gollum. :)

For any humanoid and the subclasses, I'd pay a hundred dollars. I mean,
there's a LOT of humanoids and subclasses in Adom....
It'd be really, really fun. Probably too much work for poor TB for what would
be basically a novelty, though.

Yea... I think we've covered most elves as it is. I did have one friend

Well heck it'd be damn good, and certainly the way forward if Adom ever took
fully to the commercial route. I agree with Karkadinn's last point. The
novelty would be great, but work... much too much of it.

We're lucky to have a game creator so responsive to our views to be honest
:p How much of Adom today was envisioned by TB when he set out with the
sparkle of genius in his eye that first day?

We already have black hurthlings. Generate a hurthling, kill a few beggars
and small children, presto.

How would they be different from normal hurthlings?

According to the YASD, the fairy is 5 foot 10. Maybe Vertigo overlooked that
bit.

If it really was 5 foot 10 it would be a very small dagger. If it was 3" as
Vertigo referred to Tinkerbell as, it would probably be a spear. It could be
even bigger, but the fairy has a shield so it must be a spear. If the fairy
was a bit bigger it would be a short sword.

I did, I saw it after I had posted. I was hoping nobody would notice. I was

Well I looked up that RFE. Yup, definately overpowered (which was
Karkadinn's comment on the original RFE), but I'd like to see it in so
posted my own comments. I feel the balance of races is great at the moment,
but the RFE was there, and had few useful comments there so I thought I'd
add some (re balance mainly).

The three foot he referred to was the proposed height of Faeries in an RFE
on the site. He didn't make it entirely clear what he was replying to. You
may possibly remember that RFE, you posted a comment. But I guess you post
comments to many RFE's and no-one can be expected to remember them all (with
the possible exception of Karkadinn..)

Just a note: 3" is three inches, not three feet.

What about ratlings? They're some of the most colourful beings in the
game so far. OK maybe any humanoid race but I like the ratlings. Give
them extra skills with swords...

If I'm not mistaken, the Creator's Olde Site said he wanted to add Mist Elves,
Ratlings, and some kind of dwarf in 1.0.0. Obviously, the 1.0.0 we are playing
isn't the one he (or we) had imagined. Let's hope he's privately beta testing
the new races! :D

Thomas announced that he wanted to add ratlings at some point. I cannot
find the original quote, but the bug database shows this comment by him
for RFE #222:

"A few new races are planned for the versions after 1.0.0 (together with
a number of new classes): among them are Hill Dwarves, Mist Elves,
Ratlings and a few others (maybe kobolds and minotaurs)."

But since the RFE is more than two years old, I am not sure if Thomas
still holds that same opinion.

From the Readme.1st (Who knows when that was last updated though):

"7. How about more races?

I'm very hesitant about adding new races to the game, since
ADOM has been designed with a background in mind and is more
than just a collection of everything including the kitchen
sink like Nethack. Thus there won't be races like vampires,
dragons, giants, etc. The only races I ever plan to add
are Ratlings, Hill Dwarves and Mist Elves. This will happen
in the ADOM 1.x.y release series.

8. What about more classes?

A couple of additional classes are planned for future
versions (after 1.0.0), among them Pirate, Shaman, Pilgrim,
Summoner, Armsmaster, Noble, Miner, ..."

Ooooh boy, I can't wait for that pirate!

Look under plans for the future.

I also remember him saying he wanted to add summoners and i think another magic
user and another smithy.

But it's not a new race, black hurthlings have just been seperated from
their community until chaos perverts them.
