YOUR HISTORY:
Your parents are travelling adventurers. They are doing
moderately
well but are talented enough to survive.
In your childhood you were tortured by your cruel parents. They
seemed to thoroughly hate and despise you.
During your youth you embarked on many small journeys to nearby
towns on behalf of your parents. You learned to know lots of people
and
made many friends.
As a young adult you spent a lot of time searching for a deeper
meaning and purpose in your life. You pondered and pondered but
nothing
truly sparked your interest. Finally, after many many hours, you made
a
decision.
You decided to become a Wizard.

(I don't believe that this is spoily; it reveals nothing about actual
gameplay or the game's structure, only about a single counterintuitive
point.)

Very simply: there's a slightly illogical behaviour in the game code,
such that (IIRC the details correctly) any hit from a ghost which kills
you is said to have aged you to death, regardless of what age it
actually brings you to. In other words, what killed you was having your
HP come down below 1, not having your age go up too high.
