I thought that TB said that pre- and post-crowning gifts were
random...not based on class or race....and that the crowning gift was
decided at the being of the game, not when you got crowned (meaning that
there's no way to scum for a better crowning gift, other then the
immunity)

To those who responded to my original post with information about precrowning
gifts. AFAIK, precrowning and postcrowning gifts are not restricted in any way
( except for the requirements to get them ). It is only crowning gifts which
are restricted to a specified list and which are determined at the start of the
game.

Of course, my bad. I failed to comprehend as I read the post.
I have run a series of tests and find that there are two exceptions to that
statement. Further, although the tests were extensive there are 6 classes for
which I could not find all six.
That said, an almost complete listing, and the noted exceptions are given below
the spoiler space.

The exception to only six possible gifts for each class are:
1) High elves and grey elves of many ( probably all ) classes can receive
Sun's Messenger in addition to the defined six. This was observed for Wizard,
Weaponsmith, Thief,Farmer,Druid,Bard,Barbarian,Merchant,Monk, and Priest. Note
that Sun's Messenger is one of the six defined gifts for the Archer and Ranger
classes.
2) Dwarves of many ( probably all ) classes can receive Hammerhead in
addition to the defined six. This was observed for
Thief,Farmer,Elementalist,Archer,Fighter,Healer,Merchant,Mindcrafter,Palad
in,and Priest.
When one of these exceptions occured, it was noted and the character was
repeated.
A minimum of 36 tests for almost every class, equally divided between lawful,
neutral, and chaotic characters and almost equally divided between races were
made. For the 6 classes for which I did not find all 6 of the gifts, at least
50 trials were made. The results are tabulated below for each class. The
number of lawful, neutral, and chaotic characters receiving each gift are noted
for anyone who wants to look for a pattern. I saw none.

The major spoiling effect of this information in terms of game strategy is that
it helps the player choose which weapon skills to concentrate on in the early
game. For example, weaponsmiths should train hammers and clubs since both gift
weapons fall in that catagory and wizards should train staves for the same
reason.
NOTE: The running of these tests was facilitated by judicious save file editing
in order to be crowned on the second turn. This cheating was only done in the
name of research and the games were each terminated immediately after crowning.
The characters all had their default alignments since the crowning gifts are
set at game inception which implies that changing alignment should have no
effect.
If anyone can fill in the 7 missing spaces based upon game experience the input
would be most welcome. If any errors are noted, that information would also be
welcome.

My best character ever (you can see it in my YAVP that I did 2 days ago) was
a dwarf lawful priest got crowned with Aylas Holy Scarf.

I would like to add personal obersvations to this class
Yesterday I was playing a high elf lawful priest, I got pre-crowned with
Thunderstroke

About 4 days ago my Human priest was precrowned with Executioner, though
Just an addition to this. I had a Hurthling Monk pre-crowned with the Crown
of Leadership a few games back (g12). I don't think I saw that particular
artifact on any of your lists. (an amazing post, BTW)

It's my understanding that pre-crowning gifts are usually randomly
determined. Completely randomly determined.
The list you all are discussing is of Crowning gifts, which are
predetermined.
Pre-crowning gifts are not.
