Is there an equivalent to the wizard mode of angband in adom ?
Or how do people"cheat" ? Just want to know...

On the rainy night of Sun, 28 Feb 1999 14:46:37 +0100, one of the Dark
Angels was sent with a message for Lord of Chaos. His name was
darkgod. These are His words :
'Is there an equivalent to the wizard mode of angband in adom ?

'Or how do people"cheat" ? Just want to know...
'
They edit savefiles.
It's simple... and sometimes dangerous because ADoM knows about it.

Nope, no known in-game cheats. This fits with the fact that ADOM has many
secret areas; if the cheats were public people could find those areas
without searching.

You can cheat by (snort) savescumming, but you know how disgusting a person
THAT would make you.

People cheat g9 and higher using a program called ADOMF, or more
recently WADOMF, they can edit many many many different aspects of thier
characters, among the best attributes, skills, spels, and *gasp* even
items. Because Adom finds out thier cheating and makes them "run out of
luck" (the monsters are mega super powerful, able to do 1000 damage a
hit, and those are the weak monsters like rats), some one wrote a
program that disables the CRC savefile checker that makes them run out
of luck.
I Know this cuz i cheat sometimes :)
ill give the website with all these cheats if requested enough :)

I use cheating to test things out sometimes, andI'm curious, what is
this WADOMF? where could I get such a thing? I've used ADOMF, and don't
like it much. but is this for newer vers.?

WADOMF is for windows GUI, it is like ADOMF except it has a few new
features and of course the GUI, you can get it at

Well, I'm bit out of date in adom-related things at the moment (argh!
Who wants to write port of ADOM_RUN to linux? Mail me if you're
interested.), but one, mean and disgusting way to cheat is to clone
items.

Get into multitasking (like linux) or multistanding (like windows)
environment, first. Drag your ass to some level, drop the thing(s) you
want to clone there and leave the level. Then go to adom_dat\savedg /
.adom.data/savedg -directory, try to somehow figure out which file
holds the level data and backup it. Now, get back in game, go get your
stuff that's copied safe now, leave the level again, and restore the
earlier backup of tmpdata. Re-enter the level... and as you guessed by
now, the stuff is there again.

This is very simple thing and propably rather simple to workaround, so
if Thomas still reads this group I guess it'll be fixed soon. Or, you
could go report it if you like, I can't remember his email at the moment
:) This worked with g12 (tested while ago), and atleast it used to be
able to clone artifacts too, dunno if it works still. Go try.

Oh yes, Strength of Atlas is very nice until you forget to recast it
when it's wearing off and get crushed because you're carrying too
much....

Wimpy magic users...

Rambo St:92
Carrying capacity: 30800 stones

Damage caused with your melee weapons:
--------------------------------------
Right hand: +212 bonus to hit, 5d6+101 damage
Left hand: +204 bonus to hit, 3d6+95 damage

Let's just say that Atlas has nothing on me... I say rename the spell
to Strength of Rambo ;-)

Ok, just so this isn't a total waste of bandwidth, how's this for a
challenge game:

Win the game, in whatever fashion you want, but, one restriction...
when you leave the chain, ALL your stats must be 99.

Challenge #2: Have all stats at NATURAL 99's... ie no bonuses from
equipment or anything like that.

If I actually got a character like that, I probably wouldn't leave...
I'd just dive down into the ID and see how deep I could get, clearing
out every level.

Funny you mentioned. My troll priest "Orion" is close to meeting the
requirements you mentioned and
just about to do it! Wisdom, charisma and appearance are a bitch though. Im
just killin ancient blue dragons
in the blue dragon cave lookin for the potions.

Didn't Blade already do that one, via extensive Barney/ID scumming?

If not, those are logical choices, though personally I'd favor

the Scintillating Cave (post-ToTRR and gate closing)... there's more
than enough stuff dropped to get there.

Didn't someone else mention a claw-bug / potion of exchange combo?
A small stack of potions and a few bugs should be enough... given
that the bugs will spawn more, and some will leave corpses...

Yes, Kearns, that was me. Oops! Forgot some people find that offensive.
Ahem, Barry. Eating claw bugs
(as you may have forgotten) unproportionaltely exchanges -2 willpower for
only +1 dexterity. And as far as i know,
there are no abundant creature sources that increase willpower (save morgia,
up to 25). Ancient black dragons do,
but finding or summoning them is luck. But i never mentioned a potion of
exchange.

I have acomplished that feat a few times. I'm actually doing it again right now. My
friend always complains that it's impossible to win with Hurthling Assassins. He
likes playing as them, but always dies once his character gets around level 14. So
to prove him wrong my current HA has 99 all stats, level 50, spells galore and a
horde of insane items (I posted about that before). It's not that hard to get maxed
out stats, there are enough ways of raising them.

Just cast it 100+ times after another (preferably keep the spellbook)

This will increase the duration (and your mana). I had a wizard ,who
won the game and who never got the message of the spell wearing off,
although he used it all the time after I got my first book quite
early.

Someone told me he found cheats for ADOM, you press 'C' to chat, and type in a
string of characters, and it says, "You are invincible." I would like to know
if this is true or not. Anyone heard a rumor like this before? Can someone with
a good search engine see if they can find this?

I think hobgoblin chieves or some such say 'I'm invincible!' when you
chat with them...perhaps he's a bit confused.

I think so too, but he also said that there was one that said "You are 100
times stronger." That doesn't really 'fit' with most roguelikes, because STR
isn't the only stat. Of cousre, he also siad that a Ouiji board was haunted and
flew at his head...
