Ok. Ive got 3d libraries, tons of sources and tools..I just
need a idea. I want to make a really inovative game. I think I could
make a game like Descent-- I just finished testing my texture mapping
routines and I've mastered Ray Casting.
If you have any ideas or "have a idea of the 'perfect game' or have
always wanted to play a special type of game: please email me!
I desperate!
Thanks alot

Well, this is meant to be /programming/ here not /design/. But, here
goes: what I really like in a very few games is variety. Take DOOM:
there's a lot of different scenery, that's nice, but you get a limited
range of weapons and enemies. Now take Nethack: completely text mode,
but I have never found the limit of creatures and gadgets lying
around. This excites me and draws me in to discover what else the game
contains... and my own game effort is a sort of turn-based sea
combat/trading jobby. I'm coding the bare minimum in C, the specific
code for all items and scenarios will be in a FORTH dialect, stored
with the map files so it's EXPANDEABLE in a way that makes DOOM's wads
look like changing the palette in dos so everything's in green.

At least providing immense variety can be interesting, you feel that
you're spending a lot of time making the game good, and even amusing
for both programmers and players!

Welcome, my son, welcome to the machine
Where have you been?
It's alright we know where you've been

I think we finally have computers which are fast enough to handle these
details.
It will be a lot of work but it'll make the program much better.
My dream game is a game that creates a universe sort of like Star
Trek... Sort of. The basic idea is an exploration of space and other
dimensions. But it should be mainly written as a multi-player]

Where do you propose people should post on the subject of computer game
design? rec.games.design is probably too general purpose as it is not
centered on COMPUTER games, and most game programmers are also designers,
so this newsgroup should be perfect.

Make any game based on the CIA World Geography Database, or whatever
it's called. Be realistic.
