This has to end somewhere. I consider an abacus about as low technology
as one can go. Since no one dares to find a lower technology product to
run DOOM on then this thread is finished.

I know no one will believe me and the government will have me shot for saying
this since they're all a bunch of biggotted racist bastards, but the hidden
truth about Doom is, it's an anciet American INdian game originally played
with stones and small twigs.

No, no,no...The earliest Documented playing of DOOM was by cavemen,
drawing the graphics in REAL-TIME on the cave walls with colored clay
and ash. I believe they averaged 30 FPS (Frames per Season).

Made for a slow game, but the cavemen were pretty laid back anyway.

Oh dear, we are restricted to human involvement. Personally, there is the well
documented case where the very stars and planets spilling out of the big bang
were teaching themselves to program. They seemed to be experimenting with
Galactic Doom, but ended up with our solar system instead. 30fps? Ho ho, they
were doing a lot in 1/30th of a second.

Of course, we must not forget that these were early attempts, and much better
things came along in the ensuing nanoseconds.

Well, the prototyping was done on fingers, but it proved to be too slow

Actually, a Sinclair ZX80 would be even more painful than
fingers; just try loading the program from the tape into its 1KB of
RAM... =)

I'm not sure about the elc model, but Doom will probably be available on
a wide array of SPARC machines when NeXTstep 3.3/SPARC is released in
a month or so. A re-compile of DOOM would probably follow shortly
thereafter.

Yup. Shame the hardware is running 150 years behind schedule. That's why they
decided to release it for the Difference Engine instead.

One thing is for sure. I'll bet it was originally rapid prototyped with a
paper and pencil. Flick those page corners!

Hmmm... I tried this, but it took a lot of effort to get the chief to
cooperate. Anyway, does someone have a world that has a better
specification so that doom will run faster - I have some problems in
network games.
