2nd time in one year, the small offset weight which gives it the shakes
broke off at the motor shaft. This is a CV2001 from Dillon Precision. I
run the tumbler for 48-72 hours at a time out in my balcony, inside an
enclosure so the motor doesn't rust up.

Anyone had similiar failure with their Dillon or other brand tumbler ?

I have a feeling I run these things too much.

My Berry had a motor lead break off. Once repaired, the unit has been
working flawless.

After about 6 or 7 batches of stuff through my Dillon, one of the motor
bearings went out. After shipping it back to them under warranty, they
rebuilt everything, no questions asked. Also, because of the size of
the stuff I was tumbling, the bowl was starting to flake pretty bad.
They replaced that too. :-)

I have the CV2001 as well and all the metal brackets that hold the
motor broke. I had the brackets welded back on and they broke off
within an hour. The tumbler is probably less than a year old and not
used all that much. The motor was still on and red hot when I found it.
I was lucky it didn't catch fire. I ended up buying another one just
last week.

My Berry had a motor lead break off four times now. It seems to break
about every 5 day of constant use.

Tumblers were made to clean empty brass bullet cartridges. Were it not
for people who reload their own ammo they would not exist. We buy them
and fill them will all kinds of pinballs and other heavy steel items.
Most of these tumblers have a weight limit on the total weight
including media and parts. Try to keep your batches below that weight
limit.

I have a really nice Lyman 2500 tumbler and also a cheap generic
tumbler (similar to a Berry). I run both of them a lot and have never
had any trouble with either. The Lyman does like to walk around on the
table for some reason. I have to restrain it or it will walk right off
the edge onto the floor!

P.S. Marcel, I stll have that new Hyperball glass for you. I may make
it down to Lauderdale in a month or so. I'll get a hold of you when I
do.

I've had the factory splices for the motor leads
on my Berry break, but once I replaced them with soldered
connections, no more problems so far.

I've had no problems with Dillon Precision returning the unit back all
fixed up and ready to go. It appears that no-one else has had this
problem, it's the second time the shaft breaks at the exact place...
weird! I'll just call them soon.

I'm sure Dillon replaces this part free of charge.

The amount of of use on my Dillon for by reloading brass has caused this
part to break in the past. It's been a couple of years and I've not had to
get another yet. My Berry I use for parts is pretty new and I've had no
troubles with it.

I haven't seen anyone mention this type, so I thought I'd pipe up.

I have a Frankford Arsenal tumbler (it is blue). I bought it last year
for $40, and it has been fine. I use it perhaps once a week for a day
straight each time..

Frankford Arsenal tumbler? Never heard of that one. It caught my
attention because I used to live about 2 miles from the the actual
"Frankford Arsenal" in the Frankford section of Philadelphia. My
grandmother worked there making bullets during WW2. She was always
shooting her mouth off about it. :)

Last time I checked, it was now a commercial industrial and office
space facility. The place is HUGE!
