health insurance either through an employer or of their own volition?
I don't know the answer, but I suspect that number is relatively
small.

Also, I suspect that number of us that don't enjoy this topic of
discussion is relatively high. Nevertheless, here I am... sigh.

So what you are saying Steve is that,hypothetically we'll say um, a
salesman that earns off of commission and has to provide him/her self
with health insurance but chooses not to ,would have to pay a tax to
the government . The same government that would provide social
security if illness or injury prevented said salesman from working or
the government would provide a medical procedure or medicine to solve
the problem so the previously mentioned salesman could get back out
and work.
Sounds like a system that forces someone to be accountable for his/
her self or at least make them pay taxes for healthcare that he/she
would inevitably need wether now or in the future .

If it taxes someone a little now to pay for them later sounds good

I sure don't thinks it's fair for someone to use my tax money for
health issues that they should pay for themself if you haven't taken

Until America is willing to deny people with no health insurance
treatment, nothing will change. There has to be some reprocussions for
a person who refuses to buy health insurance, besides a silly fee, which
most poor people can't pay anyway. Because, honestly, what's the point?
You don't have health insurance, get sick, you go to the hospital,
they'll treat you anyway. Can't pay your bill? File BK or let it sit
on the books forever. Until America is going to allow people to sit
outside of a hospital and die because they are refused treatment, this
issue will never change.

I do have insurance but if you actually read the article you would see
that when Obummercare hits it wont be affordable. Fuck you cant afford
to go to the DR now even with insurance and it will only get worse. I am
also self employed which will hit me twice. But then all that is really
important is giving illegals and welfare dirtbags shit for free. Fuck

In addition, the new employer mandate is stifling small business growth

gut punches one of the few industries where America continues to be
successful. You see, in the medical device business, companies
frequently go years without making a profit. Instead, these firms invest
for the future, hoping to survive long enough to introduce an innovative
life-saving medical product. This new tax hits device manufactures
irrespective of profitability and has already led to layoffs and delays
in the release of new products. Worst of all, these delays hurt
innovation and improvements in healthcare.

All other industrialized nations have single payer healthcare so this kind of crap doesn't happen. The only care the uninsured get (if they get it at all) is through the ER - the most expensive and least effective way to treat a chronic medical condition. And we pay for it already through taxes. The fee that you find 'silly' is designed to make the system fairer by making everyone pay into the system.

Life aint fair, and this is called socialism. I don't want to pay more
so some lazy fucker popping out kids or an illegal that so they can get
a check or an illegal that has no right being here can get healthcare
for free. They do have clinics and such that gives free or discounted
healthcare but it is easyer and cheaper for them to go to the emergency
room when their kid gets the sniffles so they don't have to pay
anything. Hel,l in TX the welfare monkeys and illegals get a gold card
and they get reduced or free medical, dental and optical.

I'm not saying the fee itself is silly, but how do you collect a fee
from someone who's unemployed and on welfare? Cut his welfare benefits?
They won't do that. Garnish his tax return? What tax return, he
doesn't have any income!

In states like NV don't the welfare folks have to contribute time/effort
to charity organizations to be kept on the dole?
Section 8 or other housing? Seems like a great idea, why doesn't the
rest of the country take a stance and put the folks to work for the
benefit/social services they desire to have for free? I'm a proponent
of integrating it into business. There are 10s if not 100s of millions
of square feet of warehouse, business office dead space, and much more
in industrial and business parks that need cleaning, maintainence and
much more (sprucing up). Let the fuckers that want a free lunch and bed
work those areas for 4-5 hours a day, they get 4-5 hours of sleep and a
meal voucher at a local diner or such. If they want a square meal and 8
hours sleep, let them work 8 hours on the property and they get the
voucher for McDs/Wendy's/whatever and a nicer 'diner' in the area. If
they want a fine dinner, they work 12 hours, and they get the
aformentioned first two and a nice bottle of wine. Lets see how long
they stay on the dole, and who moves up by learning that earning
something is much more rewarding than thinking one has a right or
entitlement to it.

Common sense should tell you that the fire dept, police or whatever is not the same as healthcare. They are services that are necessities that your taxes pay for. You wanna reduce my taxes, Ill pay the fire dept for the service like I pay my cable bill. I don't think that will work with the Po Pos as they are needed to round up the welfare monkeys, the illegals and right tickets to bring in revenue. You want government run clinics, hospitals whatever, fine. They have those. Everyone gets sub par care to whatever point big brother dictates you can have. Once you reach a certain age or they deem you not worthy they will give you pain meds and you can go home and die. Medical care is not government run and it shouldn't be. If I have the money or I buy the insurance I can go to the hospital that is a privately run for profit entity and get the best healthcare I can afford. If I can't afford it well that's TFB for me. Do not raise my healthecare costs or tell me I cannot have care because it you want to give it to someone else.

Wow, in an afternoon of idiotic posts this one takes the cake. Firstly, I see little difference between a fireman saving you from a burning building and a doctor saving you from a dire medical problem. Both individuals are saving you and the services of either individual are critical in these cases. Then you make the assumption that the government is going to make doctors give you pain killers and let you die? I actually grew up in Canada and lived under a single payer plan. That sort of medical care would not be tolerated there. Ironically, that is the kind of thing that happens in THIS country when you are uninsured. Finally, medical care under a single payer plan is not "government run". This is another BS right wing talking point. What the government does is administer the insurance pool - which under a single payer system is everyone. The doctor does the medicine. Finally, you are already paying for the healthcare of the indigent every time they go to the ER, so yes, you are giving it to someone else already in the most expensive and least effective way possible.
