Is there a special bulb that goes in the popbumpers?

I have 9 machines and I've tried putting #47 bulbs in the popbumpers and
they only last a few games. Before they blow they get real bright.

I've found that if I use the bulbs taken out of an old machine, they last a
little longer. But still not very long.

Try using the GE Lamps. Little more money but last longer.

Tighten the socket and reduce vibration, that is hard on bulbs. LTG :)

Lloyd is right but I'll also add that you need to make sure the whole
pop assembly is tightened. Check the screws holding the body to the
playfield and also the nuts holding the brackets from the bottom of the
playfield.

For 555 bulbs, there is a heavier duty equivalent that can be used (I forget
the part number, Tim Arnold had them at Expo a couple of years back). Is
there such a thing for a 47 bulb?

444 is the mil-spec vibration resistant version of the 555. More expensive
and just a bit dimmer but they've been alive and well in my WH2O Boulder
Garden for 4 months now. I got them at Bay Area Amusements. I'm not aware of
a tougher 47.

I have used the GE 47's that I got from Action Pinball - I have had only
one bad bulb so far. They are pricey, but well worth it.

If you don't replace the sockets, make sure the existing ones are in
good condition. I've found a lot of bayonet sockets that are loose or
oxidized.
Both of these conditions will reduce bulb life. If they're in this
condition you're better off replacing them.

Good luck!
