So an earlier thread (TZ vs TOTAN) got me wondering which DMD pin
would reign supreme as "Most Approachable" to Non Pinheads. In other
words, which DMD machine gets the most play from non-pinheads you
entertain at your home arcades?

Sadly I only have one DMD (LOTR) and I don't think that it will rank
as the best pinball ambassador for the pinball neophite, so I won't
cast the first vote.

offering details or explanation.

I only have one DMD (BSD) and most of my non pinheads friends don't
care for it. Most of my friends just look at my machines and seem to
be intimidated by them

MM / AFM.

My visitors like them both, as they can easily understand the attack the castle or mother ship deal, and they start picking up the other rules from there. Those pins also get my visitors into the action quick, as destroying the first castle and mother ship doesn't take too many hits.

Can't really tell you which DMD game of mine gets played most by
non-pinheads but I'd probably guess TSPP (theme), TAFG (theme), MM (ooooh
castles!), AFM (oooooh look jiggly Martians!)

But to be 110% honest, the big ball bowler gets WAAAAY more use by
non-pinheads than probably any other game in my collection. Period.

I have most of the big names DMD and MM gets the nod. Even a non-
pinhead party I threw this weekend had a girl flipping both flippers
at the same time. She tried a few different games but when she
destroyed her first castle she was hooked.

AFM, MB do alright with Creech and WH2O not too far behind. Sometimes
ToM seem to hook a non-pinhead when the trunk starts to do things.
And it kinda tells them what to shoot for.

And LOTR gets LOTR fans. That it. They read the books, they watched
the movies they play only that game.

Kids go for POTC with the ship.

Scared Stiff, Indy and Addams fall flat

Just from my recent observations.

Taxman says...

I have an amazingly similar collection of titles to what Dave here has, and I
can report the same results almost exactly. While I would be nice to say one of
my cheaper titles was the most popular, MM is by far my most played game of
non-pinheads. It's near the top with pinheads as well.

It is far from the most played game in my collection however. That is a toss-up
between the Skeeball and the bowler.

If I had to pick what I think would be the most likely DMD to garner
Non-Pinhead attraction I would have to guess at POTC.

POTC has universal appeal (men/women/children) and arguably the most
awe inspiring toy in all pinballdom...

I mean really...a ship that damn near disappears below the playfield
when you sink it?

"I want to do that again!" has to pass through any newbies mind after
he/she does it once, wouldn't you agree?

If I had to pick a DMD Pin, WH2O Wins by a mile,, BUT the Pin that
gets played the most by non-pinheads it
would be SWE1 by another mile .

BTW, Those big ball bowlers are really cool ! .

Hmmm...I have three, but only for a little while.

Baywatch - For the seasoned pinballers, a shot makers game. Not super
popular so far, but maybe once they get more skilled.

Jurassic Park - Always has been a very popular machine for the theme,
the cabinet vibration, the T-Rex toy, and after all the candy, it's
still a game that requires skill to hit the shots and go through the
modes.

The Getaway - This is really popular too, I think it's just the action
of the game mostly, the cool loops you can do and the tactile shifter.
The supercharger is always a cool toy, and the topper is eye-catching
when in multiball etc.

I'd say JP is the most popular one right now.

Mario Andretti

I don't really like the game and would sell it but it always gets the most play with my non-pinhead friends. I guess because its so easy to play. I also have AFM and DW but Mario always does the best.

Toss up between TAF & TOM with RFM very close behind. If no one is
playing any games TAF & TOM are the 1st ones approached and fired up. If
RFM is being played it forms its own audience and people want to try it.
It usually has a mini line around it and is constantly being played if
people see it in action.

CC is played most. Then MM, most people find it to be a lot of fun but too hard to play (mine is set up very fast). CV is third with the ringmaster head.
SC, WW and TZ don't get a lot of love..

non pinball people like the VP the most. RFM is a close second and
Tommy. I don't know why but Tommy seems to attract the most around
here. Even over all the A list titles.
