- All parties involved are supportive of the WEG approved MM remake
project and have a desire to see the game completed and the customers
satisfied.
- Mr. Pinball Australia has financial and project responsibility for
the project to completion working with PPS as the WEG licensee. PPS
purchased only the WEG license and spare parts inventory from Mr.
Pinball Australia. The MM remake project including deposits were not
part of the assets transferred. Parts sufficient for the game
production were retained by Mr. Pinball Australia.
- PPS will provide assistance to Mr. Pinball Australia to complete the
project as appropriate. PPS will provide help with the creation of any
additional parts required, as well as PPS will be the interface to WEG
for approvals, etc.
Our hope is for the project to accelerate and complete as soon as
possible..
Planetary Pinball
How about taking this a step further and lets get some calirification
of what we as the community can do without breaking the law or
infringment of IP rather.
Clarification IS A MUST guys ... c'mon and help us all out.
The most pressing issue is CODE. CAN we or can we not modify WIlliams
code and freely disperse it?
Is it possible for you to make MM populated playfields, translites,
and sideart? That way collectors could convert other titles into an MM
and you wouldn't have to deal with cabinets or assembly.
Mike
I suggest you punt the MM tar baby as far away as possible and steer well
clear of the dingo.

Maybe Wayne is closer to having all the needed parts after all the
years. If he came forward with what parts are still needed. Then maybe
they could be found or made, or redone another way if a license
problem. What he needs is a project manager to manage production,
inform people of what truely is taking place on pinball production.
The idea of populated playfields is another good idea, maybe that
should be done first. A good way of product testing before full blown
production. Redeem the confidence of everyone towards new pinball
production. Nothing is stopping Wayne from manufacturing his product
in the USA or other area of the world.
Mike you hit the nail on the head. This is what the pinball community
could really use. Offer us populated playfields from all titles and
let the community make their own games. Stop with all this "pie in the
sky" remake BS!
Zak
My advise to you would be to distance yourself as far away as possible
from any further part of it or Wayne.

I think this is an excellent position to take in the matter. As long as your
agreement is not open-ended on the timeline. Give the man a reasonable deadline
to complete and I think everyone would be satisfied. The years and years of
empty promises, and now really no promises at all as we hear nothing is what
stinks on this project.
I personally don't worry/care about the active people on this forum leaving
their money to Wayne on this deal. There is enough info here that if they make
that choice at least it's a well informed choice. My fear is the uniformed
people that are continuing to send him deposits in vain without knowing any
better. Since you are enabling this to go on, you need to be looking out for
those folks now Rick.

Kyle Wren - CARGPB #27
That's a little overreaching, isn't it, Kyle? Rick has enough to do
managing his business and all that entails. Asking him to police Wayne's
project is a bit unreasonable. How the heck would he even do such a
thing anyway? Put a task in his Outlook calendar to check on Wayne's
email list to scour for possible MM remake inquiries once a week? Even
if he could do such a thing what would he say to them? Frankly I think
you're doing the job of educating the uneducated fairly well all by
yourself :)

I'm guessing here, But I would think Wayne doesn't have all of the
"Hard" Parts needed to get these games made because he's had enough
time to get them done .
If I had the supplies, I could turn out 1000 wiring harness's in a
matter of weeks & so could he, PFs & Cabs are another story, But Do-
able, So it would have to be a few parts holding that project up .
It would be Great to see those games built though .
Pin-Del,

The AUD is so high these days (about 1 to 1 to the USD) no one would
have ever guessed that the aussie dollar woudl be parallel to the US
dollar
Good luck w/ the trasnition Rick and keep up the ocmmunications. They
are ppreciated,
Bill
Kyle, I don't think that Rick could manage Wayne's MM remake project
mainly due to distance and reputation. The fact that Rick is willing
to put his business rep on the line to announce that he is willing to
help Wayne with the project parts at all is admirable. Anymore than
that, and he may be putting his fledgling pinball business at risk if
Wayne delays past set deadlines again.
Rick will do the best he can to carry the WMS torch, and if Wayne
drops the Aussie ball, then it will ALL be on Wayne. I supported
Wayne when nobody else would back in 2006 to 2008, and had learned
much on that adventure. At least Rick has a history of BAA product
delivery and service as a jumping point here.
Anyways, pinball back in the U.S. of A. BABY! As it should be!!!
F*** YES!
--Patriotic Rick.
- My understanding is there are NO new deposits being made, so there
is NO potential about 'new' people/customers being uninformed.
- We are interested in doing what we can to support the completion of
the game in the interest of it's current customers.
I agree, Rick trying to "manage" this project remotely would be crazy to
attempt. Rick has much better things to be doing to get his new company off to a
good start. All I'm asking for is deadline for Wayne to have to ship the games
by, or his option on the rights expires. It's that simple. That is a win for
everyone involved.
* Rick proves he's got real control over the situation by enforcing such a
deadline.
* Wayne had the needed incentive that he is so lacking right now to either build
something or refund.
* Wayne's remaining deposit hopefuls get some light at the end of a very long
tunnel, one way or the other.
Understand, I'm really not anti-project or anti-Wayne at all. I'm just anti-it
going on forever and ever with no eventual resolution. I'm not even asking for
an unreasonable deadline of 2 weeks or anything, give him something he could
actually hit if he is really trying. Something like 12/31/2012 has a nice ring
to it. More than 2 full years (on top of how ever many years that has already
gone on), what could be more fair than that? And then just leave him alone to
manage his own project.
12/31/2012 has a nice ring to it. His original completion estimate 5 years ago
was about 6 months, that is more than quadruple that amount of time, and he
already has a 5 year head start on top of that.
Support this project by letting him continue, and provide what you are able to
in parts that he will need. Just don't let it go on into infinity.
Kyle, you ARE a pitbull bro! :)
--Rick.
Well, in fairness, PP did seem to be in a "clarifying information" mode. Best to
ask our queries now while that iron is hot. :-)
I can even go so far as provide some sample wording for the eventual response we
will get on this subject, if we get any at all:
Choice 1) Setting a reasonable time-line for this project completion actually
makes sense to all parties involved. Thank you for the suggestion. (translation:
this I call Kyle's Fantasy Scenario. In this one I'm really fit and handsome and
I ride everywhere on a magic unicorn that talks.).
Choice 2) While we would have liked to have imposed a deadline on the project
completion of the MM games it just isn't possible at this time (translation:
Wayne wouldn't sell us the rights unless we let him hang onto his MM deposit
money, or, they didn't really care either way. Either of which is fine.).
Choice 3) Wayne is free to take as long as he wants in building the quality
product he will eventually produce. We have seen pictures of the nearly
completed final product and everyone should be satisfied with the results
(translation: Wayne has pictures of Rick, possibly wearing women's clothing.)
:-)
All joking aside, I understand if we don't get an answer to this question as
such an answer may not be in someones best interest to issue publicly. I just
know that 4 more years from now when there still aren't any games or any refunds
nobody will be talking about this then, the time to inquire is now when someone
is actually willing to say something on these forums. Even Wayne posted some
information on this subject just this past week, breaking what had to be a year
and a half of silence on the subject. I took it from his response that he would
actually answer all my questions if I were willing to send him $2500 to become a
"vested interest party", I just don't want to know that badly...
Believe it or not I was never really against Wayne until he started collecting
money for something that he didn't really appear to be trying to build. With
what he used to say about Gene, and yet he was then able to deliver almost 200
complete machines you would have thought that ego alone would have allowed for
at least one MM machine to be put together.
I have no pony in this race and I don't believe you do either. The
hundreds of posts on this project over the last three(?) years have
covered just about everything. I mean no hostility and am very sincere
when I ask; why do you still care about this subject?

What do you care what other people care about?
Oh, look, there's the end of the pretzel....wait...maybe not.

Just a friendly question due to sheer morbid curiosity on the
insistence of beating a dead horse to nothing.
-> My point. You can have sheer morbid curiosity about why he is interested
in the topic, but he can't have the same curiosity about the topic itself?
By the way, the recent sale of rights by the dingo with no statement one way
or the other regarding the remakes (at least at first) resurrected the
previously-headed-for-the-glue-factory horse quite nicely. I guess you
missed that part.
And I don't care if he
keeps posting about it I just wonder why.
->OK, then let's just say he has a morbid curiosity about it. Obviously you
cared enough to question him about it. Let's be honest.

glad to see you're still cordial as ever.
->Ah, the bitter taste of sarcasm. Yum.

Maybe because Wayne has been doing something/nothing. Who knows its so
secretive over the years. People want to hope he can do something with
the parts he has obtained over the years.

Cody,
You are one of people who make rgp what it is today. That I mean in
all sincerity.
A crew of ONE person, if they know what they are doing, can assemble
one game a week.
It's a lot of manual labor, but it's really not that hard.
Let's see what it all entails.
Start with a backbox.
You need a backbox made out of wood. We already have people making
that.
It needs to be be painted.
Silkscreen the warning in the back.
Backbox done.
Now... inside the backbox. Metal plate behind the boards held by some
screws. Big deal
Now, we need 3 boards. CPU board, hell NOS ones were available via
Gene all this time. A 4 meg chip needs to be burned for the game, code
available via ipdb. security chip needed. Already available via
shifted bits. then, you need 3 AA batteries.
Put CPu board in there. CPU board done.
Power driver board. Repros available, original ones available. Put
power driver board in there.
audio'/visual board USED TO BE the hurdle. Replacements are either
available or available shortly. Burn 7 4 meg chips with audio and put
it in there.
Artwork for the backbox available, slap it on it.
Translite available.
Glass for translite available.
Translite plastic channels available.
Bucket for DMDs needs to be remanufactured. Big deal, I bet Lames
Loflin can do it, it's justa dumb tub made of plastic with some holes
on it.
wiring harness for flashers and GI in the tub. Available.
Plastic twist on flasher 906 and 555 bulb holders for the backbox
available,.
plastic DMD holding assembly - dicey, needs to be remanufactured.
DMDs available.
backbox Speakers available.
Backbox done.
Moving to the bottom cabinet.
Cabinets available already.
You need 4 leg bracket plates and some hex screws. Available.
You need 4 legs, Available. Leg bolts. available. lower cab and coin
door artwork available. flipper buttons available.
New coin doors. Available.
Launch Ball button. available.
Start button available.
flipper boards. Available.
grounding wire throughout the cabinet. Available.
coin door interface board. available.
metal power box containing thermistor, varistor, main game fuse, fuse
holder etc... available. wiring harness going from this box to the end
of the game.
metal housing for the power cord to connect to. available.
transformer? needs to be remade, big deal, use the same supplier that
williams used to go to..
what else we got there?
main speaker on the bottom? Please.
Side rod to hold the playfield up? Available.
That's it for the cabinet.
Playfield.
Flipper assemblies? USS generica - available.
2 plastic ramps. Available.
Castle plastic parts. available.
To be continued...
You know, someone can care about horse racing without having to own one. Best
case scenario on this deal, the number of active pinball machine manufacturers
in the entire world doubles from 1 to 2. While I will admit I wasn't interested
in a MM (or a CC), had it gone forward as advertised I would have had interest
in other 90's Bally/WMS titles.
Worst case scenario on this deal, a member of this community could be actively
trying to defraud other members here to the tune of 2.5 million dollars.
I used to start these threads, you will notice I don't anymore. I do tend to
jump in sometimes when someone else does, or when something momentous happens.
Transferring of the rights to build Bally branded pinball machines would seem to
fit into that category. I was hoping that transference would mean a resolution
to this project but it obviously won't. Which is cool now we all know that.
Wayne has conditioned everyone to think this deal should be secretive when there
really isn't any reason for it to be.
