I have been dealing with online deals for quite sometime. And with all the deals I will tell you that even though there have been some rough transactions.. they always came through. I never got beat...ever!

Until this week it seems. I sold a pair of STTNG decals to Gilles Moro through epay. ( I know, that was my first mistake) Anyway, to make a long story short.. there was something wrong with my paypal account. There is like this stupid grace period you have to wait before your money becomes available. So I took all the steps necessary to get my payment quicker ..including shipping an item. Now mind you... i saw the money in my paypal account but it was not available to me until a certain date. So I thought everything was fine.
But...
After 30 days I waited only to find out the money was refunded.
In the meantime, Gilles has received the merchandise, I have tried to reach out to him on several accounts.. no reply. I even had a translated letter sent to him..

still nothing..

So i am posting my first bad buyer post here..

If you ever get any emails from this loser..do not deal with him.

You will get beat.

How can they make a refund to him without your knowledge. Did he say
to paypal that the item never arrived. I would think at the least
paypal would contact you first.

You should have seller protection since you shipped the item. I was worried about a pin sale that I had the buyer pay by Paypal but he picked up locally. Thankfully everything went well. The biggest thing you need is proof of shipment.

Even though this seems to be a drive-by shooting by the OP and the
details are sketchy, I have received notifications from Paypal that my
payment for an item I sold was "pending". As I recall, the money was
shown as being in my account, just not yet available. Here are
Paypal's explanations about pending payments:

Here are some common situations why a payment you receive might not be
immediately available:

You’re involved in a pending PayPal dispute, claim, or eBay Buyer
Protection case, or your buyer has filed a chargeback or reversal with
their bank.
Your payments may be placed in your pending PayPal balance because
you’re a new seller (whether on or off eBay), or because you have a
Below Standard seller rating on eBay. By delaying the availability of
payments for up to 21 days, we have time to make sure your buyer
didn’t experience any problems with their order.
Your account has been temporarily limited because we’ve noticed an
issue with your account and need your help to resolve it.
A reserve has been placed on your account.
We’ve identified a potential issue with a buyer’s payment and are
reviewing the transaction. We typically complete these reviews within
24 hours. During this time, the payment won’t be available and we’ll
ask that you wait to ship the item to your buyer until we complete our
review.

Joe,

Can you track your shipments with a shipping number? Trace them
showing up at various ports/places, etc. Eventually, hopefully, even
to him signing acceptance.

Keep papers, receipts, etc., showing the games were:

1) Shipped; and,

2) that it was YOU that shipped them; and,

3) that they were shipped to HIM, at the address he provided.

When date did you actually ship the games?

Keep us posted please!

Hi Joe and all

haha..Drive by shooting.. ;-) I like that..

This is exactly what happened. It seems that there was a different email account on my epay than there was on my paypal. So that is the reason why the funds were being held. And since I no longer had any access to the old email address, any notifications that were sent, I never received. I spent 2.5 hours on the phone with someone in India about this whole thing. And also called epay as well.

But.. here is the good news.. When I checked my email this morning.. the payment was received!

Either he saw this post on here or it is just a coincidence..The power of RGP. either way. I would like to retract what I said about Gilles. HE did the right thing. I am sure he would do the right thing with you too.

Thanks for all the input. You guys are the pros.

Since he made good I would just delete this whole thread if possible. Someone might not take the time to read past the title.

Well, I agree with what Mike said, FWIW.

The reason I characterized it as a "drive-by" is that it was clear to
me that something was off with your story and/or with Paypal, and
because there was no subsequent engagement by you here with the people
here that offered help/asked questions about your problem. I know how
frustrating it is to deal with Paypal, and that it makes the buyer (in
your case) an easy target. So, it was "Ready, Fire!, Aim on your part.
Again, I am not trying to be an asshole, but unfortunately, the
problem was not caused by the buyer; it was caused by you and this
post is going to be here forever. Giles Moro has more standing to say
that you are a bad seller than vice versa, but your full name isn't
out here....his is.

So, whatever you can do to make that right withand for him is what I
think you need to do.

Hey Joe Mike..point well taken.

Unfortunately, I do not know a way to delete this post..and I am pretty sure you cannot delete a message on this board. It seems that someone has changed my subject head back to the original heading. I did retract what i said and I did change the header to something that was more positive.

I have been on here for many years and I have made many contributions. I know the drill.

I only wish that the buyer would had gotten back to me much sooner. Hence I would have never had to post this in the first place. If he feels like posting a bad Seller post with my name on it then so be it.

Lesson learned.

-Joe

P.s. if you know how to delete this thread.. please do.

FWIW, here's my latest ebay/paypal scenario:
A month before Christmas, I won (actually a 'Buy it Now') auction on
ebay. The item was a 400 Disc DVD changer which I needed for a New
Years party. When it came close to 2 weeks after the auction ended, I
emailed the seller asking when it shipped. he replied, " Oh, you
didn't get this yet?"
Long story short I got the package a week or so later and it looked
like shit. The unit was literally thrown into a box sideways and a
minimal amount of packing peanuts thrown in to make it look like a
feeble attempt at 'packaging'. The door of the unit opened up during
shipment and an assload of peanuts got jammed up into the mech.
I filed a claim against the seller thru paypal and they emailed me a
label (at seller's expense) to ship the player back. Once the box was
scanned to go back to the seller, in other words, out of my hands, my
paypal account was refunded.
The system works, buy only if you're honest. YMMV

You really can't delete from Usenet because not all propagating servers
enforce the cancel command. That, if followed, would have the effect of
only eliminating the original post. All replies would still be present.
Best action s to close it out using a modified subject header along with the
explanation, as was done. ;)
