I have my Teacher's Pet tuned up and cleaned up, but now I'm getting
an intermittment problem when I push the start button for a new game.
Score reels reset and game seems like it will start but it does not
kick out the ball. I then have to turn the game off, turn it on again
and push the start button. Sometimes I have to do this 2-3 times
before it will kick out the ball, other times it works fine for 5-6-7
games in a row.

I have the schematics. Thanks in advance for the help. By the way,
the game is very challenging and probably the most fun of the 6 EM
games I've owned.

make sure your ball stepper is resetting properly to zero or one at
start of game. If thats fine I would find the ball kicker coil on the
schematic and follow it back, possibly the start relay has a dirty
contact

I don't doubt it, AWESOME GAME!!!! There are about ten more of theses
Williams from the sixties that are just as good.

Hopefully though, Marty has helped you with your problem, as I am not
much in the way of fixing these machines...... Sorry about that, Chief

DAMMIT JIM !!! I'm a PLAYER not a TECHNICIAN!!!! Hahaha
Cheers!!!

Mr. 520, oh, those are Roman Numerals. Sorry, I see you are in Greece.
Could you give us more details?
Does the score motor continue to run?
What else can you tell us about what it does?

Chris -

Score motor does not continue to run. Here is what happens...

Game ends (or I turn on the machine).
Hit start button
All score reels reset to zero
Ball indicator resets to #1 (at least that is shown on the backglassO
Then the ball simply does not get kicked out into the shooting lane.
At this point hitting the start button does not "reset" anything, have
to turn the game off and try again.

Note that I don't have any problems with the ball kicking out during a
game (always kicks out fine).
I cleaned the leaf switch on the start button (already pretty clean)
Also checked and cleaned the switches on the start relay and problem
is still there

As I mentioned, it is intermittent although happening now more than a
few weeks ago. Of course since I finally have the rest of the machine
working great!
Thanks
Greg

Greg-Just a couple of things I could think of to look at. Check the
hold relay to make sure it's doing it's job...holding in...contacts
are clean and switch adjusted properly. Also, the game over relay.
I'm not familiar w/what type is on that game, but check that the
switches are clean and adjusted properly. Hope that may help. Good
luck!

The interesting thing is that once he gets it to start, the whole game
runs fine (Ball 1 thru Ball 5). Since a ball in the outhole should
absolutely *always* trigger a score motor cycle (leading to triggering
the outhole kicker), it sure does sound like the game over relay (or
equivalent) is not quite right, and is leaving some N/C switch open or
dirty, and that is disabling the outhole relay. After all, that's what
the game over relay is supposed to do when the game actually is over.

Hi Greg,

Did you post this under DXX originally?

Hmmm. Sounds obvious, but the game isn't completing the "reset"
sequence in some way.
Score reels reset to zero. Good.
The PF doesn't look like it is a bonus based game so there's probably
no bonus to reset.
Is it one of those games that displays "balls TO play" and counts
down, or does it have a "balls played" and counts up. If it displays
ball 1, and it's a count down type game, then see what is supposed to
step the ball count unit up to 3 or 5.

Here's something else you can try. Manually actuate the outhole relay
(if it has one). What happens. This isn't going to fix anything, it
will just tell us whether or not the outhole relay is working.

Success!

Took me awhile to get back to look at the game, but upon close
inspection I saw that a contact point had fallen off of a switch blade
on the Game Over relay. A quick soldered-on replacement later and it
works perfectly.

Thanks to GOCATGO and others who pointed me in the right direction.
Game plays perfect now - open invitation to any Rec-Gamer who wants to
stop by and play - it's an addictive game.

Thanks again, I love this site.

Greg-Glad to hear you got it going and I could be of some help along w/
others. Enjoy your game.
