ok, so I finally took some pictures of my Fathom Playfield Swap. New
Drops, Pops, Plastics, New Backglass, Repainted the Cabinet,Tumbled
All Metal ( thanks Mark for loaning me the tumbler ), these pictures
do not do this pin justice! This pin looks better than it ever did
new from the factory! Up next is Eight Ball Deluxe.

Parker,

I didn't take any pics during the swap process, however, I can tell
you that there are about 6 different mounting holes on the top of the
playfield that you will need to drill yourself as these were left off
in the CNC process, most notably the 2 center lane guides (top holes)
and the right side of the apron holder, as well as a couple of the
metal posts. On the back side, the lamp holes are a scoshe smaller
than the originals, however, I found this to be good as the lamp
fixtures fit nice and snug and will hold in place with one staple. Be
carefull when lining up the "rollerover" mounting plates for the
outlanes as the dimples for mounting actually make one of the screws
line up perfectly with the topside metal lane guides and will force
them up out of the playfield, though this is a simple fix as the
rollover mounting plates can be slightly moved and still work
perfectly. Be sure to clean ALL of the clearcoat out of the Star
Rollevers before installing the stars or you will have lots of
"sticking".....and clean the insides of all inserts before you
start....
Keep Flippin'

Thanks Norman

That's weird, do other cpr pfs have issues like these?
Or is it just the 'Fathom curse", as the 1st run repro fathom pfs were
printed on thinner wood and didn't have the recessed areas for the
underside pop bumper assemblies.

The Fathoms are routed on the back for the Popbumpers and I bought new
plastic base plates and they fit fine without having to sand, file or
alter the holes.

Stu,
What is above each of your pins? They look awesome.
Could you take a picture of the tops so we could see.
I have a Centaur also and I would love to have one like that.

Wow that is gorgeous, amazing how blue the pf looks when new. I'll be
doing this to mine pretty soon and can't wait (at least the pf
portion, the rest is ok).

Did you replace the stock lamp sockets with #44 style lamps, so they'd
fit in the undersize holes?

As I pointed out in my reply to Parker above, I used the existing
holes (no routing, filing, or sanding) & used the existing #555 lamp
sockets, they simply have a nice snug fit and will stay in place with
1 staple...there is absolutely no need to replace the lamp sockets
with #44 sockets.

Here are the images of the Centaur I did using the CPR playfield &
Plastics....again, everything is new all the way down to the new
plastic posts. Also note all those Real Metal Studs on the Cabinet &
Apron...that was a pain in the A** to do, but every time someone new
sees it they have to touch it like it's gold or something....It feels
like a metal studded leather bikers jacket.

Stu,
That is really nice. What did you use for studs? Did you repaint
your cabinet?
I also did a play swap (from CPR ) on my Centaur. I also had most
everything chromed like lock down bar,and handle, strip across the the
top edge of pf, the ball gated, start button and coin release, etc
or highly polished. Here are my pics. http://s768.photobucket.com/albums/xx329/dsaintos/
What do you think?

Looks awesome, but with all that chrome why didn't you chrome the
legs?
The studs on mine are actually decorative nails I installed after
repainting the cabinet. The ones on the apron are from a bedazzle kit
for clothing, but I hade to bend back 4 prongs on each stud before
installing them.

I have not had a chance to do the legs. I am still up in the air
about chrome or Black.
I don't like the chrome legs you can buy, The chrome is cheap and
looks like shit. I
will have to take mine and have them chromed and it's expensive. But
I have aircraft stainless
bolts that my brother got for the legs. They are nice.
Well, I love the look of the studs. You do very nice work. Did you
just glue the stud on the apron?

I have to pain my cabinet, it's ok, but I would rather paint it/
I will do my Xenon at the same time. I also did my Xenon like my
Centaur, but the xenon
cabinet needs to be painted.
