Bought a CFTBL recently and finding a lot of issues that were not
disclosed when I bought it (bought from out of town craig's listing,
ugh, learned lesson there). One of the issues is in regards to the ball
drain on the left side of the apron. There is about a 1" gap between
the apron and the wooden rail where the ball gets stuck. There looks
like there was some post there before, but it is missing. I also tried
to find a better pic from someone to see if the apron is actually
supposed to extend all the way so there is no gap. I took a pic of my
issue and hoping someone can help diagnose if I am missing a part or
have a bad apron (could be from different game and used on this Creech).
Hope I am making sense, but the pic will explain it better. Also, the
ball shooter cover is cracked if anyone has a spare I would gladly buy
one (I think a lot of Williams pins have the same shooter cover but with
different screen print, but that is not a big deal). I am still novice
in fixing and making repairs to pins, but learning is part of the
process.

Here's a picture showing the part you are missing.

That exact part will probably be hard to find but you can probably
cobble something together if you have a bend piece of flat metal.

Almost looks like they intended the game to have a left lane kickback
doesn't it? (Or maybe they just had a large apron stock with the hole
to accommodate it to use up)

Thanks for the help! I have found that Creature parts are hard to come
by in general and this one may be near impossible, but hopefully i can
make something that will work. In the meantime, a little tape will have
to do.

Interesting, my CFTBL doesn't have the apron that appears to be built with a
kickback in mind. Mine has a standard apron without the extra hole on the
left side.

Neither of my Creatures are like this either, their aprons have no
kickback hole cut in them.

I have a prototype creature, and it has nothing that would indicate the
game was ever intended to have a kickback.

Mine has it: build date 2/23/93.

Very interesting!

FWIW, mine's domestic.

John: now I'm curious what the production date of your prototype is (as
my game isn't a proto and has the feature--domestic, built 2/23/93)?

Are you sure thats a creature apron. You can see its not original as
it has decals on it instead of being screened.

I thought that too. The way the red arrow points at the hole from
Exit/Special, it looks like when that insert lit, that spot would open
and the ball wouldn't drain.

No DOM on the proto

I don't see one on the production game, either.

Rats.

I double checked the production game, and the playfield is dimpled for
the bracket. It's in pieces, and the apron is in another box in another
location, so it may in fact have the piece.

I'll send Mr. Trudeau an e-mail and ask him :)

Mr. Trudeau replied to me and indicated that CFTBL was not designed to
have a kickback, and it's likely just that a surplus of aprons with
kickback 'notches' existed, so they were used.

My CFTBL apron has the hole and the metal flap Martin shows over here.
