I am replacing the body and the skirt and it looks like the socket is
wired right through the middle of the body piece. I hope I am missing
something as those metal strips look as if they are stapled to the
lower side of the PF.
Please let me know if I am missing something really easy like
"just simply pull on the socket it and it pops out of the body
assembly"
or maybe not.
Thanks
Jeff
You are correct. Those metal strips run through pop bumper body. A
good way I have found is to cut the metal strips with snips on the pf
by the closest staple to the pop bumper body. Using the same lamp
socket with metal strips inserted into the new body reattach the body
to the pf and solder the strips back together on the bottom of the pf.
Oh yeah, don't forget the skirt before attaching the body to the pf.

Mmmmm, sort of. The metal strips are actually manufactured into the socket, like
so: http://www.pinballlife.com/images/products/thumbs/pbl_24-8776.jpg
Underneath, they usually are connected to wires, sometimes they're insulated,
sometimes not. Can't remember what MA uses off the top of my head.

Yup, typical. Cut socket leads, remove bumper body, rebuild, buy new sockets,
slap the whole mess back together.
You can try and re-use them, but I find it's just easier to buy new ones.

Yes, that's normal.

Yep, they are.

Not. But it's not that bad either. This isn't for your game, specifically,
but you might find it helpful anyway:

Unscrew the two flat head standard screws, remove with needle nose
pliers. Unsolder with recently mentioned solder gun (best to work under
the PF), and suck the solder or use wicking to absorb excess.
Finally bend straight with pliars and slide the entire construct off the
PF. Then you are good to go, reverse process with new bodies/sockets.
Takes about 5 minutes per pop if you are retarded and/or new to the
hobby. Don't fret, we all were/are retarded at one point.
