My wife has told me she doesn't like pinball machines much. But i'm
not sure which machine or machines she has played. Too long ago she
tells me!

She can and does play "minesweeper" on the computer. So all hope is
not lost.

Just wondering if there is perhaps a particular type of machine that
appeals to the female brain?

Someone posted here a "data mined" thread on the top 50 machines. I
don't suppose he could do the same with with females only?

My wife's favorite is Addams Family. I believe closely following that
is Attack From Mars. After that, I would have to say Theatre of Magic,
and then Stargate. This is based on what I find her playing when I
walk into the gameroom when she is playing.

I collect EM's, with a gameroom consisting of 26 set up and playing
70's games. My wife demanded her favorite all time game be added, a
CFTBL. Argh, it looks real odd in the gameroom with it's EM cousins.
But mama is happy and visits the gameroom more now.

My wife's favorites:
Theatre of Magic
Attack from Mars
Indiana Jones
Monster Bash

She dislikes:
Funhouse (Rudy creeps her out)
Centaur (Too "evil." Voiced by Satan).
Batman Forever

We also just got a Who?Dunnit, and she's digging that one because it
reminds her of CSI.

Really, she likes a ton of pins....mostly DMD stuff.

I primarily collect 70's EM Gottlieb and early SS Bally. My wife plays
occaisionally. Her favorites are Crossword (Williams 1959) and TAF. In
fact she asked me to get a TAF after playing one at someone else's house.
She also wanted a shuffle alley (I obliged with a 1951 United Super Shuffle
Alley). That still leaves room for me to keep 16 other pinball machines set
up. Seems fair to me. :)

The wife actually has two big favorites that she loves to play, and of
course, I don't have either one of them in my small collection of 7
games. She likes the High Speed II that is in the local pizza joint
and a friend of hers has a mint Doodle Bug that she plays to death.
But hey, it is all good. She thinks we need a few more so there is
one at home that she really likes, -Jeff.

My wife's just told me it's a three way tie: TZ, ToM, and WH2O. This
actually comes as a huge surprise to me, I thought her favorite was
RoadShow. Lately she has been asking me to buy a POTC, and she hasn't
even played it.

I'm in the same boat as you. I can't get my wife to play pinball.
It's like she has a thing against it. She hates video games too. I
guess if she let's me spend our money on the games, I should be happy,
but it would be nice if someone besides me played the games. : (

My wife's favorite by a longshot is Safecracker. Sold one and had to buy it
back because she missed it so much. Not sure if it's the smaller flippers,
the token awards, the random elements on the boardgame, but it's her
favorite of the 18 we own.

She doesn't like the older games at all and seems to focus on the 90's
forward. Other games she plays (but much less than Safecracker) are
Funhouse, TZ, and AFM. Before Safecracker, she played all three of these
often.

i am fortunate in that my wife goes with me to thursday night pinball,
volunteers with me at calif extreme (this will be our third year), one
pin a go go, many lucky juju's where they have only EMs to play, and
even went to a sac pinball meeting! plus she has let me get rid of
useless stuff like sofas and coffee tables so my living room and
formal dining room has important stuff like pins (i guess i am lucky
\-)

that being said, my wife's favorites are out of the hundreds we have
probably played are:
1. mm
2. nascar
3. mb
4. tom
5. totan

i have four of out the five, as i ask her which ones she likes when i
purchase any pin - not for permission, but concensus. its a good
thing we both gravitate toward liking the same style of play. luci
likes faster games, so she has not been bitten my my recent em
seduction. she has spent 4 hours at a shot at lucky juju (EM
museum) so all is not lost yet in turning her to the seduction of
chimes and bells LOL! luci also thought our whirlwind was too hard,
so did not really like that a lot.

my 17 year old daughters favoriates are
1. mm
2. tz
3. mb

however, my daughter has only played my pins, and has not gone with us
to any of the shows, so only knows my nine in her universe of
favorites.

interesting list of "female friendly" pins shaping up. great thread.

any data mining junkies out there willing to do a compilation if this
thread has some legs?

My wife likes RG and CFTBL. She's also liked every EM game I've ever
had. I suspect that if I brought home one of the "street level games",
she'd probably like those also. She grew up with EM games in her
house, so I suspect it's the instant understanding of what to do that
draws her to specific games.

By a wide margin Sue's favorite is ToM. She has gone from flailng and
basic "try to survive" game play to a serious competetor in the last
couple of years, with serious improvments in saves, drop catches,
passing, and strategy. As a suprise second most played, that is
probably Demolition Man, she's much better at combo's on this than me.
Very satisfying to see her enthusiasm and skills grow.
I can usually tell when someone is starting to get hooked, when they
start to get animated and talk back to the machine.
If the ToM is giving Sue a hard time, it can get to sound like a bar
room cat fight!
Don't take no sh*t from anybody sweetie!

Right now my wifes favorite game is Popeye....lol...

I know everyone here hate the game but she played on a couple years
ago and fell in love with it. I happend across one about 3 weeks ago
and she plays it every day.

She also says I can never sell the IJ.

I had a TOTAN a couple years back and she really liked that one too.

She does not like: AF, T2, Johnny Nu, Pinbot or any EM.

The only ones my wife likes are the ones I've sold.

Mine does too. But she also loves Gottlieb Class Of 1812. This is the
most underated Pinball of all time. It would have been one of their
best games but it came out the same time as Addams Family. Just bad
timing.

btw - forgot to note that my wife plays fh and rs if it is there, but
thinks rudy and the other two heads are creepy ... as with i. so these
are on my not buy list.

luci spent over two hours at todd's with the sac pinball group on his
afm ... and got to rule the universe and the strobe multiball! that
is a heck of a lot further than i got. so thanks todd for getting afm
on our list, expect this pin to go on her top five list once we get
ours in the next few month \-).

Brannon:

On the bright side, that exact machine (which I bought) is now at my
buddy's house (on loan) and he and his wife enjoy it immensely. They
played a ton while he was going through Chemo for Leukemia and it made
their days a little brighter, so it may now be my favroite machine
too.

Nice.

Actually, the best party of the deal was meeting you. What a great
guy with a huge heart.

OK, I just started a new relationship a few months ago. She hasn't
really gotten into it yet. But my last girlfriend was a Breakshot nut.
I thought in order to get rid of her I was going to have to give her
the game. Just kidding. Actually she is a good gal, just lived too
far away to continue.

My new girlfriend, (who's a keeper by the way), is into decorating.
So, I hope she doesn't want to paint my machines! She already has got
her eye on changing the color of my living room.

Good to see that there are other women out there not afraid to respond.

I was the pinball lover of the family. I got the husband into the hobby
about 8 years ago, he is the video collector.
His favorites to play are Cirqus Voltaire , Addams Family and TZ. Mine are
LOTR and Roller Coaster Tycoon. I use to love Theater of Magic until we
sold it to make some room in the game room.

Now if I could only get him to see some of the video's to make room for some
other pins I want we would be GOLDEN.
