Mine may stay in the box till I get to play another one. It would go a
long way toward a CC or the Avengers that is coming out.
It kindof reminds me of Twilight Zone which doesnt look very good at a
glance as far as gameplay but we know different. I dont like all the
inserts lit either.

on there I just HATE the look of the whole backbox.
I really don't see the point of releasing a half baked teaser vid like
that ....why is it playing so goddam SLOW, just looks DULL - does
nothing to sell the game to me , in fact I am less excited about it
than before.

and i like the flying monkey grabbing the ball. i like some of the
voice calls, and dislike some. i dont like the LCD or anything on it.
part of the charm of pinball is art. it should be pleasing to the eye
just sitting there. looks like there is no art unless its turned on,
and what i see on the screen i dont consider any kind of pinball art.
also could do without the ad for jersey jack pinball. i hope thats
only on the prototype, not on a game you'd have in your home.

Yeah - that's why you can't show status updates... most of these dim-wits don't have enough vision to recognize how far JJ's group has come in such a short time. When you sh!t out a game in three months - you end up with a Transformers. It's obvious the ammount of work that's being put into this and it's all starting to come together. But a progress video is just that. It's still a ways away from being finished - and that's a good thing. They aren't rushing to put it out and fix the problems later. With all of the toys and lighting effects and whatnot... it should really be an incredible experience when it's complete.

I really enjoy these updates. Machine looks like its making good
progress.
I love the LCD!...but I'm a 3D animator;) If talented artists put work
into the LCD interactions I think it will grow on people. Whats really
important though is will new players like the LCD.
Hopefully the utilize the LCD for tutorial modes. With that big screen
you can clearly demonstrate to new players exactly how and where to
shoot the ball. Pinball's complexity is intimidating to new players.

There is a problem with status updates because many jump to
conclusions about something that is incomplete. However, it was much
worse when we had deposits with wayno for the remake of MM. There
were no updates and the anxiety created by the perceived and actual
lack of progress wasn't worth keeping my order in place. I got my
refund after a few months. I am happy that we are seeing progress on
WOZ, but I will wait to make any judgements until I get a chance to
play the game.

the game is slow, the backbox is atrocious, the music is monotonous, the
apron looks weird, etc. No amount of rules are going to change that.
I also find it funny that anyone that dare give their opinion on WOZ
are called names, labeled "haters" and accused of having an agenda.
Don't get me wrong, I know if I gave Jack an interest free loan a couple
of years ago, bought into his bravado while trashing Gary Stern, waited
past several promised deadlines, and finally saw this steaming pile, I
would also be defensive and angry. I really wanted WOZ to be great;
anything that gets pinball back into the mainstream is a good thing.
This ain't it.

Look closely and tell me if there is or isn't something blocking the
entrance to that ramp or whatever at the top that you have to hit a few
times till it drops and allows the ball to enter.

I have a name for pins that are overdone with colored LEDs, powdercoated
hardware, gaudy cosmetic mods, and an overall kitchen sink aesthetic.
This game epitomizes the term: candyland nightmare.
If you think the machine looks great, that's cool. And I'm happy to play
the game at your house. But I can't imagine ever having one in mine.

I think it will do very well at bowling alleys (however many are left
as three more closed recently in the Detroit area) FEC's, non-
motorcycle bars, etc. The only question is will it have legs and earn
for a couple of years? Only time will tell as ops thought Pinball
2000 would rake it in and that did not happen.

I just finally watched the video.
My first impression is that the flippers seem underpowered to hit those upper shots. Game play does seem a bit slow. Why does the witch remind me of the file cabinet in X-files?
My second impression is the same one I had after I switched my CV to LEDs--"Holy crap that's bright" I can't play CV in the dark anymore because it fries my retinas. I do like the fact that you could change the colors of the targets after each set completion. 1st time through they're red. 2nd time through they're blue and so on. As long as they're not ON.ALL.THE.TIME. :)
My third impression is that everything looks built to take major abuse. I love the fact that you hardly see any wires or bulbs plastered all over the place. Those ramps look bad-ass strong. Are they powder-coated or dipped?
My fourth impression is that the LED is just a gimmick for now until the animations & stuff get worked in. I've seen videos of them but they're not incorporated into this video. Don't Tron me, make that score BIG.
I'll stop numbering now.
The music would drive me batshit crazy after a while but I understand it's not finished. I think Jack & the JJP team have some major stones releasing pre-production images & game play videos. They are opening themselves up and taking heat for stuff they've probably already finished. Win or lose I applaud their process.
I would say if you have a chance, go to PPE on the 22nd, play the game and then pass judgement. I wish I could go I'd camp out right in front of it. If you haven't played it, stop shitting on it just because. If you play it and it sucks then fire away.

LEDs should be good for operators as they wont burn out nearly as often (I prefer the soft glow of normal bulbs, BUT, color changing i very cool).
I am assuming the audio still has a long way to go so no need to comment. I just would not underestimate the impact that the sound package has on our overall impressions of a game, it is critical but often overlooked.
Off topic, but I enjoy the Zen Pinball games on the IPAD and Xbox, but there sound really needs to change, it isn't dynamic at all... generally it just plays one track with a few call-outs that are not all that exciting. I know Zen is not real pinball. Ok, end off topics.
Anyhow, once we see modes, multi-balls, and a finished sound package, I think it will be great.
Also off topic, I saw the trailer for the OZ film that is coming. It looked cool.

I watched the video several times tonight and honestly I feel like they
should have made us all wait and be suprised with the real final
product. This is tough. No offense but most of us here are Jack's
biggest nightmare.We are his hardest and pickiest customer's. He is
probably reading this and cursing us all out about now! We are the same
group that cut down pinball 2000 back in 1999!!!
For what it is worth I would have made the LCD display smaller too.
Their is just something about the game that I am not sure of yet. I
still feel that a different topic whould have made a better first game.
Something faster, original, and more out there perhaps. Maybe game two?
So if JJP was able to do this over again would they show us anything???
This is a interesting approch to marketing and have never seen it
before. I hope it works out because a lot of people are counting this
co. to suceed! One very positive note the game parts look strong as Jack
promised!

If Jack is going to leave it on to play all day Saturday at PPE as he stated I don't think he's worried that people will think it's a dud. It's hard to say from that video that it's slow or what. You need to play a finished game to really tell.

TSPP is not for everyone. I think it is an A title with a great deep
ruleset. But that is only my opinion. If people think it is a C title
that is their opinion and I won't debate opinions. It certainly isn't

I love the Simpsons theme too. I have played hundreds of games on
dozens of TSPPs over the years including tweaked out HUO examples and I
just can't get into this game. It also has the most annoying, tinny
soundtrack I can think of on any pin.
Overall, not a bad game, but not in my top ten Sterns either.

Yeah I'm with you there. My beef with TSPP is the game never shuts the hell up.
Seems like every single damn switch hit triggers a voice call. The demo WoZ reel
was like that, and hopefully Keith changes that sooner rather than later. It makes
the game feel very *un*special when everything triggers a quip.

and how you see yourself! Looks as you've been beaten, socialization
issues and have major family problems. That's a common issue with people
that go Homo, that's a fact. You display classic "unstable family life"

Let's hope Mrs. Hohler and the Lil' A Hohlers can get on with their
lives with lots of therapy. What a shame that they had to be saddled

Greg, you're one of the RGPers and Pinsiders I enjoy and categorize as one of the good guys. But I do think in this zealous war of words you've lost sight of good taste when throwing slurs about mentally challenged people and those with Downs. I dont have loved ones with such challenges but know that if I did, these words would gravely disappoint me. You are better than this and I certainly understand it's easy to be dragged somewhere that is not your true natural state. Perhaps it is time to simply ignore this guy. He's not worth compromising who you are. Please take this in the spirit in which it is intended -- a well intentioned, constructive tug at your elbow. Peace in pinball, my friend.

i remember one time i was picking up a pinball machine from a guy
about 12 hours away in another state, we both had large collections
and were discussing about all the strange people we have met picking
up pins. i made the comment about how it was nice to meet someone
completely sane for a change. he said something to the effect of,
there is no one in this hobby that is completely sane, deep down there
is something that isn't quite right.
i was kind of offended, but as time passes the more i believe what he
said is 100% true.

Well I have no horse in this race but if you're trying to say Greg is above insulting challenged people, or that he should have better taste than this, I think you missed some-ting. Have you ever watched that awful, tasteless, horrific garbage show he directs called Family Guy? Don't get me wrong I think it can be just hilarious, and for the most part I like watching that show from time to time but sometimes I just have to turn it off because it gets so offensive. Usually those parts are just terrible awful things about just the type of people you were defending. I think Greg's posts for the most part here are constructive and about pinball, but if you expect good taste from the director of Family Guy, that's kind of silly. Maybe you haven't actually seen the show?

have compassion and empathy for people and their plights. I was
merely insulting Erik Hohler, who I probably don't have to tell you,
is a bully. I don't really define myself by my dayjob, but hey - I do
enjoy dark/dirty humor. :) Has this little tit for tat gone too
far? Absolutely. I love pinball and the pinball community. 99.9% of
the people I've met, played games with, bought games from, sold games
to - have been excellent and super nice people. It's just a real
shame that we have this guy in his mid 40's who still acts like a 3rd
grade school yard bully. You'd think a man with children would have
some empathy and well...have grown up! In any case....yeah, this
thing has probably run its course....what else can be really be said
to give the pinball world a glance into the miserable and vile life of
Erik Hohler. I suppose if he would like to continue this, I'll just
keep my lip zipped but perhaps have "fun with Photoshop" to entertain
you guys. :)

than RGP. The only difference is the somewhat artifical limit on the actual verbage
used.
Every time I give pinside a chance, I am quickly reminded of this and stop bothering
again. It's uncanny; on RGP if someone thinks you're an asshole they're free to say
they think you're an asshole. On pinside, they'll just be snarky and two-faced
about it. I'd rather have people be straight ahead with me than hide it under false
plattitudes.

Pinside has just as much garbage about JJP vs Stern as RGP does. The ONLY difference is arguments can degrade down to third grade name calling and really nasty comments by antoganoists on RGP. No moderation is true freedom which includes good and bad. As far as I can tell pinside doesn't swing the moderate hammer for no good reason so it's slightly more civil. Same signal to noise ratio though.
