This weekend i will trade my "24" for a huo BBH. I liked the 24 but i
need something new. The BBH will stand in a pinball line up with LotR
and SM. I need a pinball that is fun to play with friends. And i
thought the BBH is the right one, but i only played it once, had fun
but i don't know if that will hold on. Now i searched at the top 100
of ipdb and pinside, there is not much love about this machine. So i
want to ask owner of this machine if they think it was a good idea to
trade? What do you think of BBH in the long run?

I dont find it very.....i dont know, Good!.....but thats me..its a
flailing fest...

i have put some seat time on it and it just never did anything for
me...all games can have challenge but, between the theme and the
gameplay it just didnt do it for me...i have tried to find that THING
about it 10 or 12 different occasions..

i dont know if you have played it alot before or you have never played
it but you should try to get seat time your self to decide if its
right for you...

i know others here have some love for it, but, i just cant see it
being a long term game for me...especialy in a smaller collection

Can't speak about long term ownership, but I liked playing it on
location. Not a fan of the theme, but it was good fun. Never played 24
but it seems like there are some people who love it and a lot who hate
it.

I'd make that trade. Didn't like 24 at all.

Both games suck, so you're not really out anything in that regard.

I wouldn't do this. Spent a lot of time on BBH (it was a league game a
while back)--really don't like it short-term or long-term. Very
imbalanced with almost all major shots being made from the right
flipper. And too much emphasis on the annoying 'bird lane' shot to
advance in the game. The modes seem very 'light' and playfield is
sparse, shots not so interesting.

OTOH, I find 24 to be a lot of fun when I play it--not the most popular
game generally, but it's one I always enjoy.

BBH got old for me FAST. I like 24 much better than BBH, but to each
his own. The theme of either does nothing for me.

Given what you're looking to get out of the trade, you'll be fine.

FWIW, in my limited play of each, I found BBH to be more fun.

Like them both; love neither. Ok trade to me.

Based on pretty limited play time, I enjoy both quite a bit. I
personally like 24 a bit better, but both are fun. BBH is much more
light-hearted with humor that 24 does not have. 24 is more serious and
fast...Steve Ritchie style, and I believe is a lot more deep in the
rules department. BBH is more simple and straight-forward and probably
the better game for playing with friends as you mentioned wanting it
for. While I'd rather have 24, it's probably a good trade if you are
looking for a change. Value is probably very close too.

Thanks for the answers.
I alway share my machines in my pub, so i have always have 2 at home
and one in the pub to play with my friends and customers. And there is
the problem, the machines i like are not always the ones the people in
my little town think were fun. For example PotC, for me it was a
beautiful pinball but boring like hell. But the casual customers loved
it, there alway was a crowd playing it. They had fun and started to
play for beer rounds. But to that time it was my only pinball and i
hated it. So i buyed a SM.
SM on the other hand is my number one pinball, but just a few people
want to play it because the theme is not very popular here in the
corner of germany. I'm perhaps the only Spider Man movie and comic
fan in the whole town ;P
So i thought LotR would be also a flop, but there are many who have
fun to play it. It is the one machine the customers in my pub like
that i also love to play, but the ball times are sooooooooo long. It
is a game for solo players and one were the player would not drink
very much. They don't come very far in the game but when they get a
mode or a mb, they think it is fun. But there is never a crowd of
people standing before the machine, like the times i had the PotC.

So i buyed 24, for me this game was fun, the action was great, it is
Stevie Ritchie flow, the rules are good, but nobody liked it very
much. I realy like the theme and gameplay. But the normal people here
don't get what to do. So for an example the colors of the inserts
don't match the rules and than there is the thing to explain why the
player if he is one of the good guys and not a terrorist had to build
an atom bomb to get to the jackpots. I have to pay high taxes for a
pinball in my pub and a game that only i am playing is not the right
one to stay.
So after only a few weeks, i put the machine away from the pub back in
my home and played the machine just alone. I liked it but now i want
something new. I hope the BBH will be a pinball i like and the people
in my bar will play. I just need a pinball for casual players in a
very small town - country people. I hope to bring more of them to play
pinball. And it would be great if they could play together and have
fun to play for rounds.

I will do the trade and get BBH. And i hope it will be the right thing
to do.
I think i won't regret it, and if it goes wrong i try to trade it with
an other pin i like to have (SS, IJ, WPT, Shrek/FG, GnR, Tommy). I
hope that the rumor will become true that SR with Stern are on an AC/
DC Pinball. That would be the pinball with the right theme, it would
be a must to buy it. And i already have started to save money if it
becomes real.

It sounds like for your situation, BBH is the perfect solution! Best of
luck! :)

Only played BBH a few times but i like 24 much better. I got to put a lot of play on 24 a few times and i really like the gameplay. Sound, theme and art not so much but it is a great player. Rules, scoring, and mode system i like. It also has drop targets.

I have been told that it earns VERY good around here.

An operator who had stopped buying pinball machines in 2006 got one on
a whim, and it did so well for him he bought two more. Of course,
this is Wisconsin and hunting is big, so if a lot of people hunt near
you that will help, and if they don't... I have no idea. Also, if
you have the BBH arcade video machines, it will come in as a known
entity.

I liked playing it a lot as long as it wasn't set up easy. The game
has solid humor, and the buck shot makes things really interesting. I
personally didn't like 24 at all from what I have played of it, and I
would do that trade in a heartbeat.

BBH was a fun game to flip on route, but that's about all I have to
offer.

Got my BBH. It is no MM, TZ, LotR or SM. And i don't know if it is
better as my 24 or not so good. But it is real funy to play it, the
modes are crazy and the humor is great. It's very fast and there is
alot of action going on. On my PotC it was more hard work to play it,
i traded it with the 24, the 24 was not bad but it was alway the same
and the games are alway very long. Now i have a SM/LotR/BBH Line up
and i like it so far. I don' know if BBH will stay forever but imo it
is much better than the reviews.

I've had BBH for a little over a year. It's still in mt lineup with
LoTR/FGY.

Pros:
Fun, fast, great multiball action and stacking, quick games which
makes it a good drinking game with friends.

Cons:
Poor craftsmanship compared to earlier sterns, modes are fairly weak.

Recommendations to make the game better:
White rubbers, move out lane drain posts to easy, replace the moose
ramp entrance posts with thicker ones (the ironman posts fromnpinball
life) to prevent sdtm shots, lower bird multiball difficulty to
increase action and amount of multi balls.

Conclusion:
Fun fun fun game. It fits good with my other pins as it's a complete
change of pace. Lots of action, minimal strategy, just go out hit the
balls and enjoy type of game.

Mods to consider:
Flipper fidelitys speakers make the gunshots awesome. I also enjoy the
shaker motor in this game too.

Never played 24 so no comment there.

Just to balance this thread out.
I am the furthest from a hunter you will ever find, and happen to
enjoy the game.
I have owned or own games from every maker and find BBH a very easy to
understand "fun" game.
I do think everything is very well intrigrated and some of the shots
are very unique--
ie the Buck coming across the playfield and especially I love the Elk
reverse flipper shot.
Not to mention when you get Bird Multi Ball, and the "up post" comes
up and creates a captive ball shot-- thumbs up to that. There are
plenty of things to shoot for on this game as well.

The game actually has modes, and they are interesting. Spinner is
very under-utilized.

Negatives are the background music, I wish there was an option to play
some Ted Nugent or some other rock n roll hunting music instead.
Pappys voice is fun, and I like to taunt players by mimicing it.

other negatives, I need to look to see if this can be fixed or
adjusted but both orbit shots are kind of Klanky.

As far as one of the above quotes about the shots being more important
with the "right" flipper absolutely way wrong.
Most shots can be hit from "both flippers" in fact to start modes you
will be using the "left" flipper.
To get Elk Jackpots, again you will be using the "left" flipper
mostly.

I also recomend the shaker motor, force feedback when you hit an
animal target.

I bought this game when both Dark Night and Iron Man were both hot
tickets and it has stayed in my collection for 16 + and counting
months.
I have sold off 5 games out of my collection this year and this is
still not on the list to be sold off.

I also recomend to make the the Bird Multi ball shot easier by -1 shot
in the settings.

good luck

I too am not a hunter and I love BBH. It is one of my favorite games in
my collection. (22 games, mostly "A-list" B/W) I don't really have a
specific reason, I just like it. One thing is the voice calls don't
become annoyingly repetetive to me. The shots are challenging (to me)
and I like the artwork and music.
Maybe it's because I have always hated that Bambi movie.:)
