New to me HH today, First time started it up, ball in shooter lane,
scoring ringing up wirthout the ball in play. Nudged the game it
tilted and the scoring at start has not reoccured. But the biggest
problem is that the game seems to start properly and then, with no
single cause that I can see, the ball will be on the main pf and the
lower pf lights up, the main pf flippers go dead and of course without
flippers...drains the ball. When ball is on lower pf or upper pf the
flippers on those pf's seem to work properly. I don't see any
particular switch being hit by the ball and being activated when the
main pf goes dark and flippers deactivate. I'm assuming because I
don't know the gameplay well, but this is a question, that when the
game thinks the ball is on the lower pf the ,main pf is supposed to go
dark and the main flippers are deactivated? Ideas as what to look at
first? Thanks, captkirk

In addition to what Steve mentioned, check all of your trough switches
on the troughs from the main PF to the lower PF. If one of them is
activated, the game will do as you are stating. Remove the ball from
the game, and put the game into switch test mode. Tap on the main PF,
the complete width of the PF, just above the window.

Ok, thanks guys. Will check both the connector and switches tomorrow
morning. So is this very common on this title?

Nope, all Gottlieb's have this to some degree. -S (CARGPB1)

Thanks again. I found a leaf switch which was making just on
vibration. Opened it up and now all works great! HH is a very cool
game.

Just for my own info, are these leaf switches supossed to be adjusted
to simply work or to some specific gap.

RGP members come through again :)

I usually gap most of my playfield switches to about half the
thickness of a dime. I like a lively game with a lot of scoring and that
seems to work for me. -S (CARGPB1)

Personally, I will gap a switch using the ball to rollover the
feature. I then view the switch action below the playfield. I try to
adjust it so that it closes and then continues to close so the
contacts wipe back and forth slightly. It acts as a bit of self
cleaning.

One exception is slingshots which need to be gapped a bit wider so the
returning rubber doesn't re-trigger it.

After you're done adjusting, Coin up a game. Knock on the playfield
like you would on a door. If any points score, you know you've got one
too tight. Use the ball (not fingers) to rollover the features to
insure they work correctly.

Thanks Vets!

Well I'll post here and start a new thread in case you don't check
back, but day 2 on my new HH started off great with the switch issue
resolved but a new wrinkle.............

I set the dip switches, all the replay levels and changed out the
batteries (remote holder installed) as I noticed nothing was being
saved, I figured the batteries were dead. Everything played great
until game end and also noticed the match feature had gone away. I
figured that was a setting I must have screwed up. So I powered it
off and rechecked the match dip switch, no it is set properly, and the
override for novelty which disables match was set to regular game
play...humm? Powered it back on, no HS to date and no replay levels
are saved??? I reset everything, played one game and of course set
the new HS, so I started game two and all of a sudden HS to date
flashes at 770,000 (still no replay levels). I power off machine, and
quick power on, everything is there ...credits and HS to date 770,000
and my last game score. I turn game off for five minutes, power it on
and ...no replay levels...no HSTD (all 0's). Play one game set new
HSTD, then in game two HSTD 770,000 reappears? I"m stumped. I
repeated this several times and each time after power on no replay
levels or HSTD is there then in game two, HSTD appears, same 770,000.
I left power on for 20 minutes once before I started game one, no HSTD
appears until game two is in progress no matter how long it is "on".
Where do I look first? I can live without the match but reseting the
replay levels each time would be a real pain. Thanks in advance for
respondig. captkirk

Hm, a problem in the memory. What battery do you have installed? If
anything (like Lithium) but a NiCad or memory cap, it's probably dead
now (I've seen this in the shop). Also, I've seen Z4 & 36 cause this
same symptom.
