I could buy one but not both. Its a tough call. Borg is doing XM, who
would be doing Avengers?

where is option C of neither. I like both movies, but would like to see
something different being offered for once.

Ditto on Neo's opinion.

Something that's not a superhero or music theme would be great!

For me, I prefer the Xmen Theme over the Avengers Theme.

Without knowing the quality of the actual game, I am leaning towards
Xmen.

Agree with Neo as well.

The new pins all look fantastic. They are works of art and they do
capture the target theme very well.

But where's the creativity today? Pinball machines are now nothing more
than an extension of the movie/music industry.

This is another apect of the EM era that I absolutely love. A pinball
machine doesn't need a license to have appeal or great artwork.

How many times can Hollywood shove a movie down our throats with the
biggest draw being an explosion larger than the last movies explosion?

I would love to see a company with the balls to put out a modern
throwback design. Some of us don't care for a palyfield so stuffed with
rails, ramps and kids toys that the ball is only visible 50% of the
time.

A tribute to your roots is never a bad idea if done correctly.

Since I just saw Avengers last night, I would have to vote for that.
However neither would be a NIB purchase for me (movie was
entertaining, but not $6k awesome)

I would really like to see a new comedy game....something with a fun
theme (either a movie/tv comedy or a generic fun theme like Party
Zone).

Your not going to get an unlicensed theme. He has never done it and he
never will. Maybe he'll do NCIS or 2 1/2 men.

Stern had the balls to put out a modern throwback design.

WPT has a lot of "throwback" elements. It has a wide open playfield
and Drop Targets galore, similar to an EM design of the past.

It actually pays tribute to its roots borrowing from Gottlieb's Spin a
Card in the game, even using the original pattern from the 1969
backglass in the Spin A Card animation. Of course the game does have
some modern elements to keep it from being too simple.

The themes are basically a wash for me, with possibly a slight nod to
the Avengers. The thing is, I don't like either enough to pick the
inferior game based on the theme.

I'd want to see both layouts and decide from there. Tron and
Transformers with both pretty solid themes, and look how thats going.

Exactly...I'd pick TF over Tron any day based on theme and that would
be a huge mistake game-wise. A $5000+ mistake.

Striker Xtreme and High Roller Casino were both unlicensed themes, so
it has been done...

I have never read either comic book, or seen either movie. I don't
know!! Based on the X Men Stern video, I guess the claw guy is in X
Men. Is he a Wolf or something with huge brown sideburns?

I would much rather an Avengers game. Hopefully we will still see one
at somepoint. This just means that I have longer to save for it.

Smart move basing X-Men on the comics. As long as they pick a good
artist it won't look as dated as a movie themed one might.

Either could be great, either could bomb. It's all in the execution. So far,
IMO, the Stern/Marvel efforts have been lame theme-implementation-wise
because they are based on the films. Spidey is a good player, but weak
graphics and thematic elements. IM is less than Spidey.

I would much rather see excellent line-drawn artwork from an actual comic
artist/team like Byrne/Austin.

Beyond theme execution is the vital ruleset and layout, both of which can
fly or bomb.

I have substantial comic collections of both those titles as most other
Marvel mainstays, so I vote BOTH!!

I want a Spidey back, I want an IM and I want any other Marvel themed
pin...but that's not going to happen.

X-Men is a comics pin with all custom art and animated voice talent
from the animated TV series.
Nothing to do with the movies.

That would be an improvement, that's for sure. Still would like to see
some humorous style pin. Either way, I hope it includes some
revolutionary technology that blows my mind. If it's the same shit,
different theme, i'll be less than enthusiastic.

X-Men all the way. I might have been on the fence if it were an X-Men
pin based on the movies. I did like the movies (except Wolverine:
Origins), but a pin based on the comics was a no-brainer for me.

The only thing I'm not happy about is the LE route they are going with
this one. I honestly think it's the worst system they have had yet for a
differenet price tier setup.

I think AC/CD was the best they have done yet (but it really didn't
need 2 LE versions). Transformers would have been better if they would
have offered a premium with all the toys of an LE without the
bling...but at least it had 3 LEs. The combo was a nice touch.

I think Stern is shooting themself in the foot with X-Men for not
offering a premium with all the features. I also think they should have
went with 1 LE version or 3 (bad, good, combo) instead of just a bad or
good. I'm not saying some people won't want the bad edition, but I have
no doubts that the good will go much quicker than the bad. I would run
lower numbers of the bad just to entice buyers. 300 good and 200 bad
instead of 250 of each.

..but anyway...X-Men over Avengers by a mile for me.
