I am selling a restored/custom Congo I just finished a month ago. When
I bought the machine it was a total basket case, missing or wrong
parts, and the cab was faded to black, white and some light blue.
A rather long history of what was done.
I airbrushed all the graphics on the cab and clear coated it, Added a
little more green to the statues and text on the front, changed the
eye color of the ape,etc…
Repainted all the black on the cab and head. The warning text was
applied with individual yellow vinyl letters and clear coated to stop
people from peeling them off. The entire cab was wet sanded, buffed
and waxed. As you can see in the pics the cabinet armor, legs, lock
down bar and coin door , etc… were done in in yellow with a green
airbrush accent then clear coated. The red Coin door inserts have the
word CONGO spelled out in them. The shooter housing was done in
powder coat green. All the metal parts were primed with etching
primer. I had the word CONGO spelled out in cut out vinyl letters and
placed them on the legs.
Inside the cab and the bottom were sanded clean. The interior black
repainted and clear coated, and the bottom interior painted white with
an orange vinyl pinstripe separating the black from white. All new
ground braids. Lock down bar receiver was painted in black texture
paint however I can now see small areas where the playfield supports
have chipped the edges. All small parts tumble buffed. New flipper
switches installed.
The playfield was stripped on top, cleaned top and bottom. A few small
areas on the playfield were air brushed, insert rings repainted if
needed, then clear coated and buffed.. All the wire forms were powder
coated green, the vuk’s were painted black with black vinyl installed
on the actual up-shoot,(I have no idea what it’s called). The plastic
mountain had some cracks on top repaired and strengthened with
fiberglass. I also mixed silicone with orange/red paint and formed
the top to look like hot lava. Also cut out the top of the small
volcano on the back board, filled it half way with clear and placed a
led red bulb behind it that lights when one of the playfield inserts
lights. Makes it look like that small volcano is erupting also.
New display, translight trim, yellow foam protector on the back of the
display. The legs have yellow and green foam leg protectors and new
leg levelers.
All the plastic ramps are new with new stickers, all the plastics are
new, I made the two outlane plastics for this one with transparent
lexan to show the light through, printed green graphics to match
the existing plastics. If you have not seen one they come from the
factory with grained steel outlanes.
The original yellow pop bumper skirts were replaced with green, all
green rubber posts, Replaced the red/yellow stand up targets with
green 3d transparent switches. The remaining targets have graphics
installed.
All of the inserts lights are done in LED’s however I left the GI
lights in standard bulbs as I like the color better. Green flipper
rubbers, all gray posts and parts under the plastics were painted
black.
The plastic window over the gorilla was wet sanded and buffed and
looks like new, smooth as glass.
The ball trough boards and the 10 opto board under the playfield are
new, flippers rebuilt..
Geeze I think I have described everything. Great game, plays super
fast with the clear coat, lots of cool lights with the leds, under
playfield and video mode. What’s left.
Asking $5Kfor it. Too high/low, make me a reasonable offer. Located
in Fredericksburg, VA. And will ship but that’s on the buyer. $100. to
prep it for shipping and I just happen to have a stern shipping box
available.

Any question or comments please drop me an email.
You can see plenty of pics here: http://s708.photobucket.com/albums/ww84/prowlerman99/Congo/
Unfortunately being the idiot I am sometimes I forgot to get before
pics so you could see the cab.

All that amazing work and you put on the old dirty star posts??
Attention to detail is key when asking for the big bucks! :-)

Thanks Craig but where is the dirty star post? They are all new so I
must have gotten some wax on one when buffing.

Hi Brian
Sure I saw some wax on the lower right sling star post in the 12th
picture of the album. Again not trying to be negative at all, its a
gorgeous game and if I had the $ I would pick it up in a second.

Thanks again,
I'll check it out. I actually appreciate the feedback. I may have
missed one, the ole eyes are what they used to be.

Very nice. How come you didn't do the inside of the gorilla's mouth
on the sides of the cabinet in red? That's the way it is originally.

Never seen those target stickers before but they are excellent. Did
you have the commonly broke plastic over the gray gorilla stand up
target? If so where did you get new a replacement? Also did you add
the volcano weldment by Kerry? I sold a nice Congo not to long ago
and your pictures make me miss it some.

A friend told me about a set of NOS plastics that I bought for the
game and the stand up was part of it. I scanned all the plastics in
case I need to make one sometime. On the volcano weldment, I actually
reinforced one myself and painted it black.

Thanks,
Brian

Left his mouth alone to be different. No real reason. Started to give
the small gorilla's different colors also but wanted to concentrate on
the big guy.

Thanks guys for the kind words and observations. The game is sold.
I must say it was one of the more fun games to restore given nobody
has done many mods on a Congo before.
Now on to Genesis, LAH and BSD.
