I have not actually put any time on this machine or played a really
good one. I'm just hatin' because it's a Sega.

And because you, who spent 10 years trying to convince us the creme de
la creme - WPC games - were worthless crap, keep trying to pump this
turd up.

Surely it's worth 900 bucks though. I'd probably buy it if I had the
room.

and it's close to you. You should really give it a chance. I don't
totally hate on Bally williams. I own a lot of them. But this group
go's so ape shit ga ga over them, that I have to spread a little hate to
even out, the boner driven fan boys. Some bally williams games are
great. But they arn't the only manufacturer that makes great games.
Some have the mindset that they are the only ones that can make a kick
ass top 10 game. And that close minded attitude inspires me to hate
their games that suck more so than I would another manufacturer.

And people that complain about the new sterns having nothing on them,
looking cheap, are the same ones that say AFM is awesome. Which is
hilarious, because AFM is bally williams econo game. It had to be their
cheapest game to make, because there is nothing on it. AFM is to bally
williams what NBA is to sterns. Out of everything they made, AFM is the
one that looks like they ran out of parts and made it, just to make
something in a hurry. Yet many go Ape shit for that game, and rag on
sterns saying they look and feel cheap. Just trying to keep the score
even.

Come on now. First, apeshit is one word. Second, AFM don't look
"cheap." A game doesn't have to have a ton of shit on it to look good.
Compare AFM to something like Goldeneye or LAH. Yeah, like those games
don't "look cheap" compared to the masterpiece that is AFM.

Baywatch is worth what it's worth for a bunch of reasons, and it's got
nothing to do with this imagined bias that you've come up with. Last I
checked, Jurassic Park was a DE game, and it brings in plenty of coin.
Because it's a well-designed (well-ripped off of TAF I mean) game that
feels solid. No matter how much shit they put on the playfields, the
Sega games just FEEL cheap. The flippers, mechs, and of course the art
and sound don't give you that same experience.

Sorry dude, that's the way it is.

I agree that a lot of DE games do feel cheap and plasticy. I thought so
to. Main reason, is the pop bumpers are all one piece on a plastic
housing. Not sandwiched between the playfield. This makes the pops
give a cheap sound, instead of a nice thud you feel in gottlieb and b/w
titles. I'm just saying AFM is a cheaply designed game. It's the
economy game of bally williams. Name one gave of theirs that has less
on it. it's got a target bank that goes up and down and a cheap plastic
toy that shakes a little. Bunch of rubber toy monsters and cheap
plastic ships...that's it. Definitely the cheapest game for them to
make. It's not a bad game, fun for what it is. But for people to rag
on sterns, for having nothing on them, but at the same time supporting
AFM, is just contradictory. That's all i'm saying.

Btw, LAH is much more fun than AFM. Just saying. LAH actually has a
lot going for it. Tho it is kinda of a TAF/JP rip off as well. JP
doesn't bring in a lot of coin. Until recently, they were 900-1100
games all day. Just recently have they reached the 1800-2000 range.
GNR is the only DE game that broke the 3k barrier. And gottlieb hasn't
yet. Gottlieb is more understandable, because the games play and feel
totally different than everyone else. DE's play very similar to B/W so
the adjustment isn't as great. Gottlieb take some getting used to. Way
more flipper travel, much more control than b/w, DE, sega, sterns.

Maybe I've just played to many fan layout games....AFM was just too
familiar. Baywatch is super interesting and there are a lot of
different ways to play it. I like games that are unique. :)

If baywatch playfield layout was used in a WMS game everyone would be creaming their panties over it. It is a fantastic layout and plays great, just bad theme around it. The dots on baywatch are some of the most well done i have seen from any manufacturer too.

Exactly - and if it was a new Stern LE it would probably be 10k in
parts by today's standards. Tons of metal, 4 flippers, drop targets,
divertors, VUKs, giant DMD, etc.

> It is a fantastic layout and plays great, just bad theme around it.  The dots on baywatch are some of the most well done i have seen from any manufacturer too.

It's not even that bad of a theme...lets pretend the TV show didn't
exist...it's a theme about hot chicks on the beach rescuing people.
I'm completely fine with that. :)

right up my alley. :)

Fact of the matter is, I'd love to have a deeper DMD but if I had 8k to
shell out I'd probably just rather sit on it so Baywatch is up my alley.
Those DMD displays sound pretty frightening, but I guess they're working
on a color DMD for this game right now so...

I think he was just asking if it sold, because of all the press your
thread has been getting. Which i'm sure helped your sale go faster,
since our bickering kept your FS post at the top for quite some time
now. Don't think he was ragging on the price. I thought the price was
more than reasonable. If I had room for a pin, I would have snagged it
if you were in WI.

When did Hurricane get in the mix? I saw this thread for Baywatch at
$900 a week ago and thought it was a pretty good deal but now I see
two threads crossed and there was a Baywatch & Hurricane deal for
$1,700? That should have gone quick.

I do not see the price or description on Hurricane. If Baywatch is
sold you may want to make a separate thread and get it out of this
one.
