Now that Stern will be doing another run on SM I am planning on buying
one. I live in California and want to get one ordered soon but do not
have any good leads on a decent distributor. I have dealt with Betson
West over this way and the service was terrible so I do not want to
use them as an option. Any ideas?
Loren
I have heard Jack at Pinball Sales is great to deal with. I think
the price will be 5K though. I was hoping to get one for 4500.
I have been checking out his site and did send him an e-mail (waiting
to hear back)...I am hoping for about 4500, also. If you hear
anything let me know and I will do the same.
Greg
I did. Jack said 4999. Maybe that is just his best guess as of now,
or may be firm I dont know but I guess we can hope for a bit lower.
May not happen though.
Just heard back from Jack with the same price....Thanks for the
information guy's. I will keep you posted as well Jason.
Everyone has been waiting on this Spider-Man run like there are no
NIB SM still available and as I guessed it's going to be $5000. You
could have got (and still can get) a NIB SM all along for $5090. Why
is everyone waiting for the new batch that will probably have a
plastic apron and peg props?
You may get a better price elsewhere - but no one else has your back
like Jack! Plus he extends warranty to 3 years which i have not heard
of anyone else doing...
Side note, its weird about all this hype of SM reproduction. They did
a small reproduction at the same time as LoTR LE. Thats when i got my
SM. Maybe all the LoTR LE hype killed it.
Also, since your thinking of buying an SM; ill give you my advice
since it was the most expensive pin ive bought. I ended up pulling a
Derick and sold my SM already. In my opinion, SM is a horrible HUO
game. Too Easy (with settings set to hard), no challenge. Repetitve.
Not enough excitement. Annoying voice sounds. Dont mean to dis all the
SM lovers out there...maybe its just the theme that didnt 'do it' for
me. But for $5k and to be a part of your home collection, it just
wasnt my cup of tea. I havent played IM, BDK, or BBH yet, but you may
want to give those a second look before you pull the SM trigger.
Steve
P.S -
*flame suit on*
He will ship anywhere and take great care of you.
Great customer service and bar none at tech support.
Bill
No need for a flame suit, that's your opinion. Funny thing though...
mine is the complete opposite. SM is fun, has excellent sounds and
music, is very challenging, has excellent art package and the perfect
theme for a home machine IMHO! I agree 100%, that's a lot of money to
have in a game that you are not in love with. I absolutely love mine
though.

Yup - I bought my new games from Trent. Great guy, buy w/ confidence!
Greg
I have bought 2 NIB Pins from Jack... Must say though that after his
merger and him being bent on the LOTR CE.. Think his prices are just a
little high now. He used to post a lot on here and has since died off
since the LOTR thing also..
As for the support.. 3 year deal is pretty sweet but certain issues it
does not cover.. Need to read the fine print on it.. Had issues with
Shrek mini playfield and it would have cost me for a repair guy to
send it out.. Jack's tech was willing to walk me through what i needed
to do to fix it.. Ended up doing by advice on here and have no issues
now..
Since SM will be a small run if anything and the demand is there for
them now - would thing $4500 - $5000 would be a good price not
shipped... Heck I paid $4500 for mine and I was one of the Last NIB
bought on here before last code hit..
Call around though.. If you are local to NJ check with Kevin at
Classic Pinball Corp.. He is who I bought my SM and a real great guy..
Has anyone thought that since stern will be making more SM they
probably will do a run of 200 to start and as soon as their gone do
another run? I would think if they renewed the rights to build more it
wont be just for 200 machines, more likely as many as they can sell. I
wont be running out to buy one at 5 grand. But maybe if the deals are
as good as IM have been I will buy.
It doesn't make business sense for Stern to announce their plans
beyond their current run. If they can get people in the mindset that
"this could be the last run ever" it makes the consumer more likely to
purchase a game because they think it may be their last chance to get
a NIB SM. Same reason why they only renew the licenses a year at a
time. My guess is that after this initial summer run of 200, we won't
see another run until the Christmas season.-similar to last year. At
that time, people will speculate and claim that this will be the last
run ever for SM because the license expires. Prices will creep up
again on games again next spring due to unsatisfied demand only to
have Stern renew the rights again and run more games in Summer 2011
and beyond. Gary Stern and Co. know what there doing. it's actually
quite brilliant!
-Mike
Simple math, in 07 first run was sub $4,000, SMB $4,400. Stern fixed
the code increased their price to the distributor by $500, distributor
added another $500 and passed that along to us, low and behold your
$4,999 Spiderman. Keep the supply low on a title in high demand and
you can hold your price within reason. We forget that only a few
months ago they were listed on ebay new for $4,300 and and then $4,600.
Cointaker is selling new Sterns now at good prices and he won't jack
you on the shipping.
Give Chris a call,

Trent Augustine is the BEST place to buy a NIB game from! Company name
is Tilt Amusements. Call Trent at 740-803-2276

I will also vote for Trent at Tilt Amusements. I'm glad to see he is
getting props for his excellent pricing and amazing customer
service.

$1200 can sure buy ya a TON of parts in 3 years.
So.. with that being said...Jack has been elevated to d-bag status in
my book
I hear what your saying but as a collector I'd shy away from future
runs. Seems like with every new run you're losing quality parts and
paying more in favor of cost savings from their side.
Makes me think about when he jumped on a thread to "help" me with a
Black Spider-Man issues I was having from a machine that I had bought
from a dealer other than him. His way of helping was to laugh and tell
me how pathetic I was for paying so much for it.
I'm with you there. Someone just posted a website that has the
previous run NIB SM for $4895 shipped. Everyone will be sorry they
waited if the new ones have peg props, plastic aprons and no button
guards for $5000+.
I remember that thread and in all fairness to Jack, you did come off a
bit pathetic in that one. :)
MattyB.
I can understand dealers wanting to make money - Heck - How often do
you get someone buying a game for $4000 + coming back.. Maybe once or
twice a year.. So that being said they have to make their money off
you now..
But what kills me is that most dealers don't have them IN-STOCK.. They
get them dropped shipped from the factory most of the time..
We all know that any NIB game right now is $3800 and under for a
dealer to get.. I wish Stern would get smart and sell discounted to
those that are collectors.. Join a club and get discounts.. Buy a NIB
a year and receive it at distributer price and if you buy more you get
a better discount as long as they are home use..
IM have been on here for $4200.. I would never pay over $4500 for a
NIB pin.. If I have to spend 5K or more then I would rather buy a MM
or AFM or TAF or collector quality WMS/Bally game.. Heck even a HUO
is in 3500 and below category..
The quote I recieved from Jack was $4999 + shipping for a new run NIB
SM.
