Genesis: This thing is sick !

Stayed up all night shopping this pig..12 hrs of dickin around
straightening shit out....it came out beautiful, and it is probably
the fastest game in the line up... ..... Airborne is brutal as
well......anyway :)

I had been playing it half done, out in the garage, ( before i brought
it inside, to the kitchen,,,LOL ) to work on it....sporting the old
rubbers, PF un-buffed and un-waxed, switches out of adjustment, balls
that looked like somebody bead blasted them...lol...etc..... I didnt
have high hopes for it. seemed a bit easy and
boring...........WELL !..

Holy F*&%IN CRAP! did this thing ever come alive, another amazing
80b game......It definately has the capability to KICK YOUR ASS !

Makes my IM seem like a snail !


I was actually thinkin of passing it along... till i put a game on it
once i got it done...silly me.....NOT !

I love Sys80b's !......easy stress free shop job too.....it was nice
not to have to spend 5 hrs just to get all the shit off the PF.......

If you have never played one ...do it....its a great title......

Whether anyone, other than you, wants to admit it, Genesis is a very
fast game, when set up and tweaked correctly. It's very tough just to
keep two balls in play during multiball. The kicking targets just above
the slings really add to the craziness.

Damn Gerry, you kinda got me second guessing selling mine now!! I've
played the piss outta it so i have forgotten the excitement of the first
few games on it, untill i read your post!! Makes me wanna take an early
day from work to go home and play! :)


My favorite part of it, aside form the music and sounds, is the light
show at night when you get the extra ball and EVERY light flashes on and
off rapidly. It hurts to watch, and could give you a seizure, but it's
still amazing!!


Now go treat yourself a pair of cheap $30 6 1/2" 3 way speakers from
Wal-Mart (I forgot the brand, but i believe they are like $33 and come
in a square box) and drop them in (Yes one will fit where the top
speaker goes too). I did so because my cabinet speaker was ripped. You'd
be amazed how much more fun the game is. These are still "crappy"
speakers by all accounts, but compared to the OEM speakers, it is a
night and day difference!! You wouldn't believe all the "extra" sounds
and tones that get washed out by the crappy OEM speakers (tons of "new"
upper frequency stuff comes out). And there is actually a good amount of
bass too!! Enough that i realized how many screws and old fuses were
laying around in the cabinet because they all started rattling when i
cranked her up!:D

I am gonna do a youtube vid of the gameplay, so others can see just
how brutal my game is playing right now..There are NO good vids of
Genesis on YT...

My opinion... I thinks it's the best 80B pin out there - although TX
is real close! It would have been better if they implemented a
skill shot in the beginning.

Definitley a sound system update is order - the one little left
speaker doesn't cut it!;)

My system80B obsession started with Genesis.
Best.......Translite.......ever. Also, it is the only game I own
where I have not regretted adding LEDS

I put full LED's in this one too.....I have done it on F-14 which i
did like the result, T2, and Theater, as well as A13 in the inserts
only on A13...A13 needs them..regular incond's..hardly light 1/2 of
the inserts good enough...

ToM...Coin Taker ultra brights..too bright, and did the whole
game ..wont do that again....absolutely blinding...great to look at
sucked to play...

T2 on the inserts was great..

But i must agree with you...Genesis looks great with LED's....The game
takes them well and it looks complete with them...

no blinding issues, and it makes the game come alive.....

Hooking up a seperate 10" Sony powered sub as we speak......i am going
to make a valiant attemp to disturb the girlfriend and kids
tonight.. :)

the flashers are all incondescent..but the GI and inserts are done..i
put the color changers under the rollover post caps..it looks
awsome....

I agree with keeping the Incandescent flashers. I tried replacing the
ones under the window and ramps and they were "too crisp" if that makes
any sense. The game lost it's "shock factor" when compared to the
incandescent flashers. I have all incandescent flashers except for the
rear of the ramps where i put purple cointaker flashers and it looks
amazing! Especially when it does the Jacob's Ladder flash before
multiball begins!

I left my flashers incandescent too...well, because I'm cheap, lol LED
flashers are pricey things. Good that they dont work in there, I
always wondered if I should have but now I know. Genesis with LED's
looks like a freakish alien lab...its awesome and so perfect. And the
inserts zing, they look amazing.

Can you tell me what LED's you put where on Genesis ? Seems you are
very happy with it, first hand experience makes a difference.
I want to put them in the top of the backglass because they tend to
get drowned out by the tube lamp.

We had Genisis when I worked in the arcades and I was always "testing"
it lol.
Smashing game and always promised myself I would have one. Mine is
kind of rough but plays fantastic.
I also used to have a Diamond Lady, sold that like an idiot :-(

FYI i tried flasher LEDs in the top of the backglass for the same reason
you stated, and they actually were more drowned out by the translite
then the normal incandescent flashers. Given i only used the standard
LED flashers from cointaker, but they are the same brightness if not a
little brighter then the incandescant ones. I'd imagine the super
flashers (I can't remember exactly what they are called) that they sell
may do better. Also i noticed, because they sit so close to the
translite, the light was very direct and specific. It wasn't a spread
out glow like with the incandescent flashers. I found a happy medium and
left all incandescent with a purple LED flasher on each end of the row
of flashers just to add a little color.

I'm not trying to threadjack you Gerry, but here's a link to pics of my
Genesis with complete LED conversion (It's alot better in person, my
camera isn't the best, but you get the idea). All Cointaker. Regular
brightness Cool white and purple in the GI and regular brightness color
matched under the inserts in playfield. I did one super bright purple on
the upper right of the playfield where that single light is in the
corner under the plastic.

Like Gerry and others said, it's a no brainer on this game. Do it, you
will NOT be dissapointed!

I'm eager to see your pics too Gerry, post them up when you get a
chance!
