Tremendous market. Hits all ages. Nice bright color scheme.

Opinions?

Sort of the "anti" LOTR.

I'm also anti-LOTR :)

I like the idea, but don't know if the appeal is universal for children and
adults alike...

Could be true, but parents (like me) enjoy the show as much as my children.
Also some surveys have shown that many junior-high and high school children
are "into" Spongebob. However, I am sure the licensing would be some what
pricey.

We really need to figure out how to get kids playing again. Video games
stink! IMHO

LOTR should be very good. Lot's of material to base the game off of, and also
the first two movies did great at the box office. Should be a great theme for
kids and adults IMHO

better comparison.

I think this would kick ass if done correctly but the appeal to home market
is much stronger than the bar environment. I could see the guy at the bar
with his friends playing this game and being teased enough to stop playing.

i hate that show - fairly odd parents.
i love spongebob [i'm 32]. the one where's he's sitting watching TV and
there's a real sponge just floating in the water. Gary slides in - "meow" -
and spongebob jumps and changes the channel quickly. [for the dense he was
watching "porn"]
I laughed for 5 minutes and my son didn't get it. lots of that in
spongebob!
the voices are clear and higher pitched - would work great in a pin!

I don't see it hitting all ages. Anybody above 30 probably wouldn't be very
interested, although I agree it is a good show, it just LOOKS like something
older people wouldn't like, so they'd never give it a chance.

My favorite Spongebob episode was the one where they were making believe in
the Box, and the old man next door wanted in on the fun, so they allowed him
in, and they were like "O.K, we're on a desert Island with PIRATES"... they
sit there.... nothing.... then spongebob goes "ARRRRRRGGGHHHHH!!!!!"

LOL It was so stupid. He gets mad, gets out, and hear's all this crazy
realistic noise coming from inside, cannons going off, etc.

Don't kids drop more quarters (mom and dad's) than old people?

Also, old parents (with kids) would play it. They watch the show.

My favorite? The one where Spongebob is dared to go onto dry land - all the
characters follow (and Bob becomes a real sponge, Patrick is a plastic
starfish, etc.), They walk up to a stuffed seagull - "Hey - a local...you
know Sandy cheeks"? HILARIOUS stuff...

I'd buy one NIB, sight unseen.

Spongebob could seriously be the whole translite, and his square pants
the speaker/dmd panel.

One of the big modes could be to foil Plankton's attempt to steal the
Crabby Patty formula. Hang out with Sandy in her dry-land bubble as
long as you can without becoming crispy-sponge. Pass your driving
test without sending the teacher to the hospital =0)

hey Gary (stern, not snail) - pleeeeze?

Cheers
Dave
(26 years old, and plenty happy in a pineapple under the sea.)

PS - Fairly OddParents is hella funny if you pay attention to the
completely absurd stuff Cosmo says. "I found a nickel! ...[later]...
The good news? I named my nickel Patrick! The bad news? *sob* It's a
GIRL nickel."

I can picture a nice Spongebob game, but the whole concept seems too
similar to TSPP (popular cartoon appealing to kids and adults). And
you really can't get much more popular than Simpsons when it comes to
this genre.

Personally I'm obsessed with LoTR (the movies and the books), and will
seriously consider a NIB purchase if the LOTR game is in the same
league as TSPP. I'm hoping it will be similar gameplay wise/layout
wise to MM (castles you have to break into, towers, etc), but with a
more serious/dark theme.

Further down the Stern line, I'd like to see a non-license "theme"
game, and hopefully a theme that hasn't been done yet. I personally
wanna see a game with a light hearted college/fraternity theme, with
modes/goals like "pop the kegger" (featuring kegger shaped bumpers),
"join the football team", and a "sorority house sneak-in" a la TotAN
harem sneak in. :)

Stern, feel free to get in touch, I'm a walking pinball think-tank. ;)

Yeah, I'd love to see more ORIGINAL ideas, too! They don't have to be new,
I'd be happy with something generic, LOL. A sports theme would be nice, or
something with some new character Stern thought up, I'd love to see
something original.

Stern having their own character isn't a bad idea. Sega used the sonic
hedgehog for a long time. Maybe Stern could come up with something that the
general public would recognize and the pinball enthusiasts would search for on
every game. LTG :)
